Axle mounting tubes...

model40fan Saturday, 2/28/2015

Hobby Lobby has been mailing me BAIT...  so I duct taped 1/2 of a FTE axle and put it in my pocket...  when i got there I found ;  K&S PRECISION  METAL, #5100... 1/16" ALUMINIUM TUBE  [6] 12" pcs. $3.00... the axle slides into the hole tightly... perfect

so as not to crush the tube when cutting it, I may file it off...

They also sell fine rods that fit inside those tiny tubes. I found the longer stick, works well to round out inside the tubes after cutting. Just easier to hold and work with than an axle.

Also, they spark when cutting. Watch your eyes and flammables.

  • wear glasses, but my alum. tubes don't spark — model40fan
  • my "axle rods" ( not the alum tubes) spark like July 4th when the dremel is on high — CrzyTrkrDude
  • yup, we need a rod the size of the axle to keep it round while cutting [tubing cutter] — model40fan
  • you just gave me the idea to cut the tubeing WITH the rod IN the tubeing while cutting to keep it's shape. THANKS — CrzyTrkrDude
