Battle of the NASCAR Stars Mail In Idea

I wish I had a better track set up and I would volunteer to host the first round and kick this off. Maybe one day.

Anyway here is my idea for discussion. Basic rules that are already in place with the cars limited to any body style ever raced in NASCAR's top division. That would be anything in the original Strictly Stock Series, Winston Cup, Nextel Cup, and now the Sprint Cup.

Acceptable castings I can think of. (If they really exist.)
49 Mercury
Hudson Hornet
60-70's Chargers
Daytonas
Torinos
Galaxies
39 Ford
70-80's Monte Carlos
Fairlanes
90's Luminas
Grand Prixes
Thunder Bird's
Regals
Fusions
Intrepids
Taurus
Monte Carlos
Impalas
Camrys
Chargers

And I know there are a lot more. What do you guys think? Maybe even add a rule saying cars must have a number painted on the sides and roof.

I have a pretty fast Nascar Ford Taurus which i'd send for this. Couple of other fast cars too. I'm in!

Would it be based on only the years they were used by NASCAR? For example, I believe the Taurus was used from 1998-2004. If so, someone will need to come up with all of the years that are accepted for each model.

But we all know, once we got to the 80s, it was just a sticker and the cars have never resembled the real cars. Even though they are trying to get back to that, it is still just a sticker with a name.

And who is going to offer up the dirt and sand racing on their tracks?

Being a nascar fan i really like this idea. One comment i have is maybe they need to look like they were a replica of a nascar racecar at some point in time. Oh and one more thing, numbers 3 and 88 automatic disqual haha jk guys.

Ok kharvest is banned for that comment.

I would say they need to be from a year that was ran in NASCAR.

I like where you're going with this.
IMO if you can't google a NASCAR pic of the car you are planning to run, it ain't legal.

Kharvest, I'm just messing with ya. I've always been an Earnhardt fan.

Carl, that is exactly what I was thinking.

This is what I think the rules should look like.

MUST ENTER TWO CARS (one NASCAR Classic - 1971 and before and one from the Modern Era 1972 - present)
CARS MUST HAVE ASSIGNED # ON THE DOORS & ROOF
STOCK OR MOD OK (IT'S MORE FUN TO MOD!).
NO EARLY REDLINE WHEELS.
CARS MUST WEIGH NOT LESS THAN 35 grams NOT MORE THAN 57 grams.
CARS MUST BE LESS THAN 3.5” LONG.
CARS MUST BE LESS THAN 1.25” TALL.
ONLY "DRY" LUBES ARE ALLOWED.

Numbers will be assigned consecutively to teams. For example Flying Pig Racing is normally #76 & #77. If you haven't raced before we will assign you team numbers. This makes it easier for each race host to keep up with points

Legal body styles must have been raced in NASCAR's top series. No Busch or Nationwide cars. For example a 2012 Camry would be legal since it raced last year but a 2003 Camry would not be legal because it has never raced in NASCAR. Anyone who enters a questionable casting will be asked to provide a picture of the NASCAR race car of the same year and body style of the casting in question. If no picture can be found the casting is illegal.
