Hey Guys,

I know that this isn't related to RLD racing, but I think some of you might be interested in what I've been up to! After I went to the Ohio Mile (if any of you are close to Wilmington, OH, try to get to one of their events...home-built cars going over 200 mph...cool stuff...good people!), I ventured further west. My destination was a small (well, 13,000 people) town with a cool school in it...McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas.

A few months ago, I discovered McPherson College via Bangshift.com, featuring a video where is was mentioned. McPherson College is the only school in the country that offers a BA in Automotive Restoration! Some bells went off in my head when I heard this! I don't really share much about myself on here, but, let me say that I am currently in a position where I am able to 'hit the reset button'on my life/career...and this seems like a very cool chance for me!

Here is a link to the program at McPherson...

So, off to Kansas, I went...about 2800 miles round trip in my 72 Chevy! :) And things really could not have gone any better! As many of you know, I already have a pretty cool job (sculpting action figures), but I really don't see myself finishing my career in this field (I'll be 48 next month)...and working on old cars, trucks and tractors is something that I really love!

So, I not only got a tour of McPherson by Ed Barr (whose book I'm currently reading...http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Sheet-Fabrication-Motorbooks-Workshop/dp/0760344922/ref=sr_1_1?ie...), I was also able to talk to the Art department at McPherson! And, they seemed very open to the idea of having me help out around their program! So, I will, hopefully, be able to work with the school while attending!

And, I should also say that the town of McPherson, KS is a very quaint...very nice, town! Think 'Small town, USA'. So, I also talked with a real estate agent while I was there...and got a nice tour of the town.

Good stuff...exciting stuff! C10 is going to be a very busy boy for the next few years! It won't be happening for a while, but I'm pretty excited about it!

And, I'll try to share my experiences with you guys, as they happen!

Very cool. But did I read something about sculpting action figures?  Sweet Jesus!  You do that AND this?  You might be my hero.

Hey Happy,

No, not offended at all! I've been very fortunate to be in the right place...with the right skills...to have a very cool job. And I've been working for McFarlane Toys for over 15 years now...and I hope to continue working with them while I go back to school.

As for doing this stuff...racing these cars, I've had very good mentors in this...both Traction Event and Smitty helped show me how these cars needed to be to go fast! They need to run straight and quiet. When you get your track set up and host an event, you'll see what I mean. The fastest cars always run dead straight and very quiet.

So, I'm nobody's hero...just somebody with a rather unique skill set!
