In case you are wondering what I've been up to...

I've been doing a little tinkering on a bicycle...

This is the '75 Peugeot UO-8 10-speed that I've been working on. Everything on the bike is period-correct. This would have been a really cool bike when I was riding my Schwinn in the late '70's, early '80's. It's been a fun project and I've learned quite a bit about bikes because of it.

This is what I started with in February...

A straight, but kinda beat up frame, forks and headset. Now, I just need some warm weather so I can enjoy it!

Very cool...rebuilding a bike is one of things I'd love to do but probably never will. My parents bought my first real bike second hand and fixed it up, I'd like to do that for my kid too. Mine was an old Schwinn with banana seat and everything.

Nice paint job on that too...much classier in black(?)

  • Thanks...it's a gray metallic that fades into a black metallic :) — 72_Chevy_C10

My stepson would (commit 1 of 10 acts that would involve CSI and send him to a very hot and bad place) for that bike. He collects vintage bikes. Mostly Beach cruisers but he's got a nice 70's 10 speed too.

NICE JOB C10!!

  • I learned a lot about bikes while building this one...the French bikes are pretty cool! — 72_Chevy_C10

Love it, great project...nice to see it completed. There are very few things in life like the sensation of flying down the road on two wheels...

  • Yeah, I agree...and this thing has some seriously fast gears! — 72_Chevy_C10

you gonna run playing cards against the spokes...? ... wish i had the clip on "year" tags from maine's car #plates ?

we would run them between 2 spokes... oh yeh, how about Tommy James and the Shondels rocking out on my  pocket mounted transistor radio ?

No baseball cards in the spokes, Smitty! But, I am running the correct, French rims and the have an etched in texture around the outside edge of the rim, where the brakes rub. So, when you get on the brakes, it has a definitely unique sound...kinda cool!
