League cars - minor deviations?

vidmouse Tuesday, 9/25/2012

Recently added some new cars to my collection that have the same name as the RLD cars on the list, but
from the photos they look a little different. For example:

My "Woody" does not have the surfboards on top

My "Bone Shaker" is the Joker version from the Batman 5-pack -- has a Joker face instead of a Skull face

My "Chevy Stocker"s have plastic bodies instead of metal and weigh less than what is listed on the site.

Was wondering if any of these would count towards being league cars?

The stance at the moment is that they don't count. I don't know if that will change in the future with the new variant tracking database addition though.

The woody probably still counts though, I don't really think the surfboards change anything.

I'm sure Brian will chime in here, but I don't think paint variations matter in the FL. Construction(metal/plastic), however, can make a significant difference in performance. Your Bone Shaker would probably qualify if its a metal body/metal chassis version. Your plastic body Chevy Stocker would have to qualify as a new entry. The Woody's surfboards don't have them)

'40's woodies surfboards "pop" on or off.

Good point.

I've tested Deora II's with and without surfboards. They made no impact on speed whatsoever. Thus, I remove them cause they're hideous.

The only thing that doesn't matter as far as the League is concerned is paint and wheels (with exception to FTE and HSW wheels).

If anything else is different between variants then it is considered and different car.

If the car has a different chassis combination or an extra motor showing or an extra "thing" then by all rights I consider it a different car. The case of the Woody's surf boards and their removable status brings up a good question however and whether or not the car runs with or without the type of addons. Historically speaking, I run cars with all the trimmings unless the extras prohibit running down the track. Example case of this is the ECTO car...with all it's "gear" attached it has trouble in the starting and finish gates, so it is raced with all that detached.

So when it comes to detachable parts, I guess officially I'll say that isn't considered when determining a variation. However, anything that is non-removable does make it a separate entry.

Example:
These two corvettes are the same in terms of chassis but one has the blown motor - these would be in the League as two separate cars.

Should also note that the tracking of paint/wheel variants per car is being added in the next update (hopefully this weekend) which will show players *exactly* which car is racing on which track. Otherwise, rules for what classifies a car as variant versus being a separate record does not change.
