Monthly Shootout...
Hey Guys,
I'm looking for a little feedback...I think I gave a pretty cool idea, but let me know what you think.
It's kinda along the same idea as Brian's, in that, I will have monthly races...but with a few twists thrown in.
A while back, I had the idea to run a top ten list type of race, where, if you had a fast car, you could challenge the list...it had some support, but not great support.
So, here is what I'm thinking...so I don't have to keep coming up with themes, the cars would be American cars and trucks, light (40 gram) and middle (57 gram) classes...any wheels. Whatever cars I have each month get raced...the top 4 cars I retain to take on the next month's cars (the longest a car can stay to be determined...4 months maybe)...modded cars only. One lightweight and one Middleweight car per person per month max
Maybe the cars that make the top 4 get a special sticker in the window...or I can come up with little trophies as awards.
Pretty simple...straight up racing...you know that there will be race every month...no themes...lots of chances to build cars and race! If you don't get your car built in time, there always be next month!
Let me know what you think!
Oh, and the top 4 races will be videoed and posted!

Sounds like a great idea I cant wait to get moved to my new house and start building for these monthly races
Other rules were better.
I just don't understand why all the races have to be so light...
Well, personally, I think it is more challenging to build a fast, light car...it has to be rolling pretty dead-on straight and smooth to be fast at 40 grams. And cars in the 40-60 gram range can still look like race cars...you aren't racing vans and suv's because they are the only things you can get enough lead in.
And lastly, in full scale racing, the last thing you want is a heavy race car...it just kinda goes against what I think of as a race car for it to be a brick...even though bricks will win gravity races.
It's really just my opinion...in actuality, if all the cars weigh the same in a race, it doesn't really matter what the weight is.
Maybe have a race for heavy cars, but make them actually be CARS (denying access to vans, trucks, etc.). For this kind of a series, though, it seems better to allow any type of vehicle--which, in my opinion, would mean ANY. See if you can find the actual fastest cars within a reasonable weight limit.
I say run it the way you want to run it. Your shootout, your track, your rules! We all have the opportunity to come up with our own races with our own certain rules at anytime!
