If you ever watch Top Gear you might remember an episode where Eric Bana talked about a documentary he made about his Falcon XB race car. I found it is Netflix instant and watched it the other night...and it's great! Totally a movie for car guys and even if you're just a fan of cars (like me).

Check it out:

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

It's pretty short and not very flashy, really just telling a story of a man and the love for his car. I have no particular tie to the XB outside of "Mad Max" but if there's one thing that tugged at the old heart in this movie, it's thinking about the passion you can have for your car...or anything for that matter. How personal something can be and how we can take those things for granted, and that those things are really a blessing. It made me think about the things I really enjoy doing and appreciate them a little bit more.

If you're a car guy that has a real car or have ever worked on a real car, then you'll probably get more out of this movie. Eric Bana is a movie star but you really get to see passed that in this film and it's a neat thing to see. He had the XB since he was a kid and over time turned it into a bitchin race car with his friends. Makes me wish I had real car skills...heck, makes me wish I had a car that I cared about. I'm too young to have driven any worth while car in my youth and my dad wasn't a car guy either, so I didn't inherit anything in the way of a cool car.

And if nothing else, I think I'm going to customize one of the XB's in my diecast collection to match the one in the movie.

Just added it to my queue...thanks!

Been watching some car movies I've never seen lately. Vanishing Point and Duel in the last two weeks.

Ever seen "Two-Lane Blacktop"? Pretty good racing movie. I can't remember much about it except two guys crossing the country racing random people.

I own a 2 door XB except its Black. Runs a 351 Cleveland V8, 4 spd toploader, 9 inch diff. I can honestly say that the day it rolled into my driveway I had acquired every single material thing id ever wanted.

Except for various diecast....

Love the Beast is an interesting film, and its a car guy film.

'Dirty Mary, Crazy larry' is a cool film as well. 'My top end is unlimited...'
