I'm thinking of something like this but bigger and longer.

4 lane off my deck which stands 12ft off ground. Since I don't have to take it up and down I can just leave it. Ill use a heavy card board as a backing and ill use the same blue uprights just make some longer posts maybe just bolt them to 1x1 boards. So it would be 12ft drop and 20 maybe 30 ft long with a nice flat run at the bottom . Any input just let me know. Wanna race it let me know gonna start building it soon.

12ft drop should do the trick. How do you get the cars to the starting line?

No name yet lol and as far as getting them to the starding line either a step ladder or put the son to work up top. Gonna rig up some kind of remote start line using springs and rope or string one for each lane and something to connect all all lanes together for single player action.

how about set up your starting system on a long piece of pvc pipe with a cord to release the starting mech.... with a small wheel and border on each side of the track lanes, you could push the whole set up loaded with the cars, to the top, anchor the pipe[in a notch] and pull the cord...

Wont the bottom lane of the turn have an advantage there and come out ahead of the other lane when you hit the straightaway--assuming everything else was equal?

So far no. That's why I crossed the curves everything is the exact same length and radius and when I go full scale and four lane I have planed for such an event. I will be using a lane change system to bring inside lane to outside and moves other three over so lane 1 inside becomes 4 2 becomes 3 3 turns to 4 and four to 1 if that makes any sense.

Something like this but 4 lane and not a circuit but the same kind if lane change setup.

PERFECT SENSE, ASK THE BRITS...IN WWII, THE LUFTWAFFER USED THAT SAME TURN PROCEDURE FOR 90 DEGREE TURNS BECAUSE ALL [4] STAYED AT THE SAME SPEED, THERE IS A TERM FOR IT ...

Good I was worried it only made sense in my head. That happens more often than not

THERE IS A TERM FOR IT

lugnutz86, I would classify your track design as 'a spiralling 270deg'

Hows that pronounced? Lol
