New comment counter setting

As per popular request, there is now an opt-in setting for the Thumbs Up counter in the top menu bar.

On your account page you'll now see a "Settings" option (previously "Alerts") with a checkbox for the comment counter. Simply check that box if you want the counter to reflect new/unread comments on your posts. Leave it unchecked if you don't want the counter to show new comments.

By default, everyone is opted out of this setting. So if you want the counter to show your new comments, you must opt-in using the checkbox.

This setting only applies to the counter in the menu bar. Your dashboard will still show links to topics that have received new comments.

Also know that the counter will always show you the number of unread private messages. There is no setting for this, it's always enabled.
