Thanks for update & pics, 'TE'!

You picked some good cars for comparison. If its only losing by 1/2 car against a Med-Evil FTE, I'd say that sounds pretty darned quick. I'm wondering if some graphite might give them enough edge to Bonneville-styled' customs in the future (hint-hint, Smitty!)

I saw some of these cars tonight at our local Walmart, but didn't buy any...still think they might need more weight. But

Ballistic has decent weight and has an excellent stance. I would try 4Ward Speed and Spin King too.

Unless I missed it, I didn't see any mention of nickel-plated axles.

Yup, missed it above...axles not nickel plated...other than that the cars I have are performing well.

Tonight I bought 2 spin kings. Both weigh 29g and are within a 1/2 car length of each other at the finish, added weight to the slower car up to 42g...now faster than other car by 1/2 length. Then I added graphite not much change, maybe a bit faster...May need to run the car a bit. Next I'll polish the axles and see if that helps.

I would take an SOS pad that you use for cleaning pots and pans with, and they do a good job, at making the axles really smooth.

there may have been some confusion with my HMMMMMM... not new wheels... sos pads... bought some this am and a new release MATCHBOX '56 Buick copper car... baby blue.

Bringing this back up to the top...without a plating test I can not confirm this, but. I was over on HWC talking about these cars in their forum.  A site administrator confirmed that these axles are in fact nickel plated...perhaps not the best plating but they are plated. He said he talked with a HWC insider to confirm this.   take it for what it is.

I have found the second release of these cars, and will pick up some more to try in racing.

Well, I'm sold on them.  Just saw these cars win the first three races at our monthly league races (50 foot track).  The first one took down a Ferrari F40 (90s version) in a rookie class for the win.  Then another won 25+ cars in a winner takes all race straight from the blister.  Finally, a third won the kids class going away.

Just haven't seen them around my area yet.  Of all places they were found at Kohls clothing store.  I know they do carry HWs though.  Time to invest in some as these races weren't even close.

  • Locally our Meijer brand stores carry them...and while I don't like the looks....the performance is there. I'll have them on an upcoming car — Traction-Event
  • As for investment...$2 bucks a cars at Meijer — Traction-Event
