New HOT ONES Hot Wheels line

I just received the 1stopdiecast.com newsletter and it talked about Mattel adding two new Hot Wheels lines. One of them being The Hot Ones. Here is what the e-mail said about the line:

"THE HOT ONES: 50 castings from the 80’s period, Metal bodies and bases with period correct exclusive plastic wheels, some cool rides we have not seen for awhile at a price point that will make collecting fun. Coming this June"

I can't wait to see what castings they'll be bringing back. I already saw Fat Fendered '40 on the list.

I bet they won't be a dollar either. Sounds like a Coke Classic strategy, if you ask me. Bummer.

No, I'm sure they'll be like $3.99 or so, but it's cheaper to pay that than try to buy an 80's vintage car. Plus they'll be easier to find too. I'm thinking about getting a box once I find one that's going to have the models I want. I bought a Fat Fendered '40 from eBay and it cost me around $7. That was the best deal I could find. I also saw one at the swapmeet, but the guy wanted $10. So, $3.99 isn't that bad of a price if the casting is going to be the same. They'll be all metal bodies with plastic wheels.

I like the garage series they have because of the all metal bodies, but they have "real riders" tires which are rubber and not good for racing.

Danielle and I will probably end up buying a lot of these when they come out. Can't wait!

look close at the masters o universe supposed '32 delivery it is really a '34 delivery but wait it is a '34 delivery made from the '34 sedan (bigger)
very cool for the modders as the other '34 delivery is too small and the base is way too narrow...break out the dremel and have at her...

They're $2. Super fast cars too, would be nice to see some cars from this line in the Fantasy league!

You can find a list of what's coming out here: http://www.hotwheelscollectors.com/news ... ws_id=1209

Man, I absolutely love this line. The cars just FEEL like they are quality because they're all-metal. When I pick-up a mainline car after holding one of these for awhile they just feel so cheap and flimsy.

The new mix just came out in my area and I managed to pick up the Ferrari F40, Sol-aire and Fiero. The first two are absolutely beautiful cars, and the Sol-Aire is WICKED fast. It's been tearing up almost every car i've thrown at it, including FTE's! The Ferrari is fast too, but I know it will be much faster once I weld the opening truck down (it keeps hitting the wheels).

The Fiero I only got because it had the rare 'The Hot Ones' wheels. haha. I wouldn't have gotten it otherwise as it isn't all that good looking, nor is it fast.

Found these cars at K-Mart. They're awesome in that they remind me of the cars I first got as a little kid.

I agree with WorpeX in that they're heavy, beautiful and definitely fast

I've acquired 8 of the reproduced at the time). The Hot Ones repro may lack the super cool Larry Wood flame tampos of the original version, but it sure brought back some memories when I removed it from the blister and felt its weight...all over again.

I was a bit disappointed with the ones I picked up, not as fast as I had hoped...well at least on the 50' track.

Now one to pick up is the Lamborghini Estoque, that thing was kicking butt on my 50' track.

I have alot of testing to do on my 25' track

Which ones aren't performing well for you?...just curious. My `32 Ford Sedan Delivery is the slowest of the bunch but the performance of the rest of them seem to rival or exceed my FTEs. I have seen a few of the larger Hot Ones castings(eg: Fat Fendered `40, Spoiler Sport, and Super Van) that were packed so tightly inside the blister that the axles appeared stressed, so I didn't buy them.

I've only got 4 of them and two of them are a rocket - the Solaire and 57' Chevy. I know my Ferrari F40 would be quick too if I fixed the rear trunk, but I don't think I'm going to since I ended up finding the red F40 pretty recently and that one is fast enough. The other one I got is the Fiero which isn't good at all (but it had the special wheels on it, forget the HW term for them. Never can remember it for some reason).

I got the Super Van, the 71 Mustang, Ferrari 308 and the Packin' Pacer...and the Pacer seemed to be the quickest of the bunch! I need to try them on the 25' track when I can get time to set it up and really do some testing.
