Pruning cars and sorting

Now that we've been in our new house for a while, I'm finally getting around to going through the bins and bins of cars to organize. Some cars are carded in bins, some are loose, some are from old projects and some are just...well...you get the point, they're everywhere.

So I'm trying to get myself organized a bit and setup a few categories of cars:

Fantasy League cars, ones that will only be used for League racing. I try to have one of each casting.

Donor cars, cars that have something to offer for modding. That could be cool wheels, a metal chassis, FTE axles, etc. And here I seem to sub-sort FTEs, bodies, chassis, etc.

Cars I just like. These are cars I just like the style or variation. I might have the casting already but just like the paint job. These cars aren't going to get modded, they're just there to look at - might be on the blister but probably not.

Collector cars. These are cars that I think will be collectible. This goes against my philosophy quite a bit but when there's a car I think could be worth money or just a good trade, I'll hang on to it.

Dupes and randoms. Cars I just straight up have several of that don't fall into one of the other categories. I guess any car can become a donor but these don't really lend themselves to it (at least not to me).

I'm finding a lot of cars I have fall into the last category because there was a time (pre-RLD) where I collected cars to collect...I wanted variations and stuff, so I have a ton of cars that I'm not exactly fond of but aren't really high on my list to do any modding with. But I'm finding it's hard to put cars into this category willingly because there's always that hoarding instinct..."I might need it someday," but I'm trying.

Once I go through all the bins, I'll probably post some sell/trades up here to see if anyone wants them. Being honest about your hobby is pretty hard but it's gotta be done. At least I know they'll be going into good hands if they do leave.

Brian, going through sorting... and letting go is one of the toughest things for a "collector"  I sold off or gave away a bunch of stuff over on diecastaway.com

local day care, or YMCA might take the extras off your hands?
