Redline Revival race idea
A ways back JDC came up with the Beater Burnout (search it)... Idea was to take a stock "well played with" original Redline Hotwheel and race them. The more beat the better, price cap at I think $10 bucks.
Here is my twist to the event... (sacrilege to some) DRILL IT, and you have to replace the wheels/axles. My idea is to take an original Redline and refresh the performance. FTE's, 5 spokes, black walls, you name it anything but the original bearing type wheels and axles

MUST ENTER ONE CAR -(1971 OR OLDER) ORIGINAL REDLINE HOT WHEEL
weight...57G max
double elimination
two track layouts
two races
one champion
I would host over the Christmas / New Years holiday
thoughts? changes?
Discussion
Anyone have any spare "much loved" cars available that would meet the guidelines? I'm willing to trade something...or things...
Anything will do.
Pm me. THANKS!

See if this idea gains any steam, I have a few candidates for this. Perhaps a spare or two for trade if need be... I see if I can get a group shot today.
- Cool...I had a Custom Mustang and a Custom Cougar when I was a kid...they are probably around somewhere — 72_Chevy_C10
It's pretty impressive how similar these two castings are...

The Heavy Chevy is based on a '67 Camaro and the Copo is a '68. Modern toy designer's have access to all kinds of technology...they have digital scanners to get the form of a car exactly correct...and for new cars, they probably have access to the digital files that the car manufacturers used to create the car.
But, back in the late '60's, they were probably lucky to have good pictures. But Hot Wheels might have had copies of the Blue Prints as well.
A cool fact...if you didn't already know it. Harry Bentley Bradley, a designer for GM...and the designer of the '67-'72 pickups that I like so much, was the designer of the origin 16 Redline Hot Wheels! No wonder I like them so much!
- It's amazing what they did and how they did it. and probably with a slide ruler! — CrzyTrkrDude

Sacrilege!!
Even if this race doesn't take off, I'll just run in as a Robber car! But I hope this race takes off! :)
Been storing a Hot Heap and a '32 Vicky... hmmmmm.... stuff 'em with FTEs and a few grams of lead... yup ! ...
.... "Holiday Hole Shots"....
Humph!
Yes! Looking forward to dusting off some old RL's.
Hey TE,
Is this race going to happen? Just curious...I've got my Heavy Chevy drilled...just needs some ftes!
I run redlines all the time, so of course I'm in on this one. Thinking original 16....
This race is a GO in my book. I'll run it over the Holiday break, it would be great if the cars arrived mid December say the 15th... busy time of year for the post office. Ship early!!!
Planning on running the Low N Slow track, my standard 1/4 mile... and maybe something else... not sure yet.
You know I'm in on this one! I know I'be got some 'well played with Redline around here.
So, it would be one-shot race? How about making it a winner take all ?
