Season 5 Champion

Well...this is awkward. The player with the most points for Season 5 is...me. First off, that means the trophy display that JDC was working on will get held over to next season.

Championship results:

Safe to say this last championship bracket pretty much kicked everyone's ass, including my own, tying for first with a mere 110 points. However, for this last race I did manage to video record the last several rounds of racing. Unfortunately my camera died half-way through Round 1 races so the video only shows Round 2 - 4.

A lot of the races were extremely close D-Grade results, some of which are hard to believe. I'm sure that I'm not the only one that didn't think the Back to the Future car had much of a chance. The only picks I had right beyond Round 1 was the Rover and the Ferrari 550, which ended up winning and becoming the THIRD Ferrari to reach the Hall of Fame. As it stands, 3 out of 4 cars are Ferrari models.

Season 6 will start in a couple weeks and will be the first to run on a slightly modified Redline Derby track, which should keep things interesting and a little more challenging. I don't have any specs on the changes yet, I hope to work on that this week and finalize. The specs will be published prior to the next season opening. Also this next season, there will be more off-site racing as one weekend we'll be racing on Austin Diecast Drags' massive 50-foot track and also on JDC's track in Washington. I'm looking forward to a great season!!

I also hope to host a mail-in tournament this season as well. I haven't managed one of those yet so I want to try that out and give Jobe a break from all the hard work More details and dates on those races real soon.

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to sit out this next season or not. After winning this past season I think I might need to step away to keep things fair and fun.

Thanks to everyone that played this season, both newbies and veterans. I hope it was fun and entertaining and I hope you all return for Season 6. Twenty new cars have been added to the league, some of which could be early retirees. Thanks for your support and good luck!!

Sorry, but I'm about to revert to an 11 year old when seeing the championship tournament's results.

OK, back to being a responsible adult (that still spends time picking winners in Hot Wheels tournaments.)

Oh, yeah almost forgot the most important thing: Congrats, Brian.

I've got no problem with you winning. I don't think you'd fudge results just to give yourself easy wins. I think you deserve a nice display/trophy for your efforts this year. I hope you keep playing--I mean, if anyone deserves the rush of seeing what happens versus what they thought was going to happen and comparing what they thought against what other people thought...it would be the person who does all the work.

That's a very thoughtful comment

Congrats! I think you deserve the trophy redline, hope you take it! I love your finish line, where did you pull that from? I need to get one like that.

Well, how about this? I'll accept the trophy but then I'll donate it as the prize for next season. I can't very well accept a trophy for my own game. I know "racing is racing" and all that good stuff, but my fun is seeing everyone have fun with something I created...that's my reward. I picked my brackets blind just like everyone else and I'll accept the win and the license plate, but my supporters deserve the goodies.

And I wouldn't have believed those results had I not seen it with my own eyes. I had a Rover vs 550 final round with the Rover going all the way. The only reason I even eeked out 110 points is that Ferrari. The other "hunch" that paid off was that Bugatti over the Monte Carlo in the first round.

Brian

You won it fair and square...keep it!

I'm pretty stoked I came in second this time, even though I only got 70 points in the final!

Good racing all and keep that trophy Brian...I've got some plans for one in the works....

Congrats on the win.

I was pretty surprised I managed an 8th place finish after missing a week of play... Lets hope next season goes a little bit better, lol.

I guess I better finish that trophy and get it in the mail to you. Congratulations my friend, you most definitely deserve it.

Right there with you Jason, I was happy to get 6th after missing a week because of vacation.

Congrats on the win Brian and keep the trophy, you deserve it

Well this kicks ass.... that's my fourth donation to make the hall of fame! That's pretty damn cool.
