Well this was it for the regular season tournaments of Season 6. All that remains is the championship, so lets see what two cars joined the group.

Wide Loads - Trucks are some of the best racers, in my opinion. They're typically nice and heavy and have a pretty simple design that I think helps. However, the trouble with trucks is often their flat out racing. All in all, about half of the bracket was pretty easy pickings, but there were a few that could have gone either way. The first match-up that put on a show was the Flashsider vs. Fire Eater...it couldn't have been a closer drag between these two but your friendly fire truck eeked out of the first round. The Studebaker truck kind of surprised me overall, not so much against the Rapid Response but making it to the final round was unexpected. However, the Studebaker almost didn't make it when it went up against the Old Number 5.5, yet again another race decided by a bumper. Even though the Ford F-150 cruised on to the win, the fight put up by the racing 1500 was a nice surprise. The older model 1500 did well as expected, knocking on the door the final round. One of these days that 1500 will be in the winners circle.

1184 Express - This tournament by definition should have been extremely hard to pick. You couldn't base your choices on rating so you had to go by weight, instinct or your own experience. The first match out of the gate saw the Dart narrowly out pacing the Porsche, and it nearly beat Carbide but Carbide had a different idea. The big surprise of this tournament was Tail Dragger. It's been sitting on the lot since the beginning and only had 4 races under its belt, but it showed its power all the way to the third round. At 65 grams, Tail Dragger had a lot going for it but it just couldn't keep up on the straight against Carbide. And that little Scion xB might not look like much, but it can surprise you...and it surprised me! It left the Fleetline in its dust and then took out the Lambo, although that battle wasn't as easy. The battle of the ugly kids, namely Med Evil and the Salt Flat Racer went down in dramatic style resulting in one of the more narrow margin wins. But in the end, the rookie Fat Fendered 40 threw its weight around quite literally to find its way to the winner's circle.

All-Stars: Carbide, Studebaker Champ, Chevy 1500
Top prospects: Scion XB, Tail Dragger, Salt Flat Racer, Old Number 5.5

The next tournament is for all the marbles. Not only will we crown a new player champion but we'll find out what car will be next to drive into the Redline Derby Hall of Fame.

I finally got two rounds of good picks, instead of one good one and one lousy. Happy to be in the top ten going into the final after missing a bracket at the beginning of the season. Good racing!

I really like Salt Flat Racer in the 1184 Express tournament but going against Fat Fendered was one of the hardest choices i had to make. Also glad to see the raptor finally win for once.

That Salt Flat Racer surprised me for some reason. It's an incredibly ugly car and while I know that doesn't mean jack when it comes to speed, if I don't like the car then I have trouble picking it. My emotion gets in the way.

See, I think the Salt Flat Racer is cool looking. Although, I do have to admit, the paint scheme on yours is quite hideous.

I like this one:

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox
