It's time to crown a champion! Season 8 is about to come to close and the last tournament of the season is shaping up to be a doozy. The bracket is loaded with veteran and rookie cars alike, many of which have a great chance to reach victory lane.

Tournament Preview
The final races of the season will be held on the standard Redline Derby Racing kicker tracker which makes many of the match-ups somewhat of a guess because several of the rookie cars never got a chance to race on that track before they were retired thanks to a win on the long Redline Hill track.

The A-Team Van might be a favorite rookie but is the van's massive weight a burden on this track? We've seen a lot of heavy cars do great down the hill but putter out on the long straight against an opponent with better stability. Since much of Season 8 was held on the Redline Hill track, many of the cars sit in the heavy weight class, so many of them may suffer from too much weight. Another favorite is certainly the GT Racer, as could be the Screamin Hauler, but looking at their record on this track, it's hard to be 100% confident.

The Baja Bug might be a darkhorse in this bracket with a winning percentage on the track but at the same time not having too many races under its belt. There's only two FTE class cars in the field, the Chevy Impala and Lotus, the latter not having much luck at all on the kicker track...but there's not much data on the Impala.

Some of these match-ups might seem easy but most of them are going to require some research. There were lots of different tracks hosting races this season so you'll need to look at each car history to make the best picks. But as you know, the stats are great to have but sometimes you just have to go with your gut.

In the player standings, GSR Microracing is currently sitting on top but there's less than 200 points between 4th and 1st place so GSR's spot is hardly safe. Iowastockcars and 3-time champ JDC 442 are tailgating GSR and have been most of the season so it's really anyone's game at this point. Could JDC earn his 4th fantasy league trophy? Iowa is looking for his second but maybe...just maybe...GSR can keep his lead and earn his first championship.

Whoever wins this season will be not only be getting a nice trophy added to his virtual mantle, they'll win a Modder's Grab Bag containing a whole mess of cars and parts all suitable for creating the next custom car so it can hand out pain and shame all across the country.

Good luck!

I forgot to mention that the Screamin Hauler and Chevy Pronto racing in the championship are the SAME CARS that were run on JDC's track in the second week. Jim sent them to me to run in the last tournament in order to keep some consistency between winners, so please keep this in mind when making your picks if you feel that makes a difference. As always, the cars shown in the photo is not necessarily the car being raced. The variants in paint/wheels may be different but the body build is always the same.

Pontiac Firebird suffered an injury that I didn't catch until running the championship today. The front axle got bent and I didn't have a replacement car. That being the case, the Firebird didn't make it out of the first round in the tournament. Since the injury was my fault and I didn't catch it earlier, please adjust your brackets accordingly.
