Shadow-Nationals drag strip underway :)

Well I went down to TRU today and bought out the rest of the track they had on the shelf. I know the semless track has been recommended, but I'm gonna muddle through with this stuff while I build my raceway.

Each lane is 12 pcs, which, at 20.75 inch per piece, gets you a 1/64 scale quarter mile strip. The track will be heavy on the drag racing theme so I thought a scale quarter mile was appropriate. Also, any longer and I can't fit it in my basement. (I could maybe add one more piece, if I squeezed, but this should do me.)

One thing I noticed is that at this length, you don't need a really gonzo ramp to get em' down to the other end. The one in the pic would likely still work even if I lowered it some more....although I think I may stay with these rough dimensions. What I'm trying to figure out now is how to make the ramp curve into the straight and still be sturdy.

So far I've raced a few of my machines, and in preliminary testing, (strangely enough) my fastest car seems to be a 71 Maverick Grabber. That was a bit of a surprise.

Anyway, here it is for now. Pardon the mess.

Lookin' good, Shadow! I think you'll find the segmented track to be just fine. I've been meaning to play around with my own track to create variants without any extra work - ie, shorter tracks, shorter slopes, etc.

Keep it up and before too long you could be a Fantasy League host track
