SHIPPING RACECARS FROM FINAL RACE BACK TO THEIR OWNERS
This is a little more complex. The host of the last race in a series must acquire a lot of small boxes along with packing materials and go to the post office to mail the cars back to each entrant. The total investment would be quite a bit more than the other race hosts especially now that we have more racers. I propose that in future series those who don't host a race send $5 to the host of the last race (via Paypal?). This is not an effort for the last host to 'break even', it's just an effort to keep the cost of being the last host in line with the other hosts.

Any thoughts, concerns or questions?

as a host of finals past.... well said carl.

This all sounds strangely familiar. I'm all for it. I picked up a couple of those boxes last week.

The original box seems to hold up for a while, it just get re labeled. Anytime a host thinks the box might be taking too much of a beating you can get one for free at the post office.

A new box from each host would seem to be optimal though...

We will skip any return postage ideas for this series. Someone else can bring it up for discussion in the future if the need arises.

I'm guessing you nixed it to keep the discussion off of a race thread or maybe because the race thread had already been opened. That's why I re-opened your discussion in its own thread. With as many racers as we have in the upcoming series I think the need is already here!
Growth is great for our hobby and this might be considered as a growing pain!

Agreed!

Ok, so this would start with the Middle weight series? I'm all for pitching in to get my cars back, seems more than fair.

IMO it would be voluntary (and I'm sure Smitty would appreciate it!) in the Middleweight II Series since it wasn't into the rules on the opening page of the series.

If all agree the following should be written into any new Series rules:
"If you're not hosting a race and would like your cars returned send $5 to the host of the last race. All hosts will have their cars returned free of charge."

Sounds more than fair to me. I'm in.
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox
Still not happy with the roadway.

"If you're not hosting a race and would like your cars returned send $5 to the host of the last race. All hosts will have their cars returned free of charge."

I may just be splitting hairs here, but just for clarification (could be the wording)...If you send $5 to the last host what is it that is free of charge? Handling?

Also, I'm curious if you don't want your cars back can you "opt out" and not send the $5 bucks?

Is the $5 specifically for the shipping/return of the cars?

Again. I'm all for this. I think the last host has been getting the short end of the stick for a while...glad that guy is/has been so generous.

Just a note...The "small" flat rate priority mail box is $5.35. I've noticed It's pretty common for people to send in their cars to the first race using those. It's not the most efficient/cost effective but for sure seems to be the most convenient.

I agree and with a lot more racers joining in it's time that this is addressed.

Thanks for your comments Jim and if you (or anybody) have/has any questions or comments let's hear them!

Again, just for clarification.

It usually cost between $2 and $3 to return two cars. The non-hosters are in effect paying for the hosts to get their cars back.

The non-hosters then pay the five bucks. This essentially pays for the return of their own cars as well as the cars of people host races.

I understand. Everything sounds good.

I totally agree on the idea. The final host should not be stuck with all the shipping charges. Everyone who participates in the mail-in races should help with that, after all, if it were not for the hosts, we wouldn't be racing. Count me in.
