What would you like to see next on RLD?

Over on another thread a group of us started getting in the weeds about things that would make Redline Derby a cooler place to hang out. From Fantasy League improvements to new products and even just general changes, there's nothing that isn't on the table to get done but there's only so much time to do it and I am but a lone Hot Wheels collector that's lives in the real world like you do.

So rather than suffer the agony of deciding what things to work next alone, I figured I'd let everyone share their thoughts and "vote" for things they'd see. In short, you're in control of what happens next here at RLD. I'm going to share my personal Todo List for RLD and see what you think. And I'll do my best to keep this updated as new ideas crop up.

What should the next addition to RLD be?
- Fantasy League team play. Moving the forum-only RTL into the game with drafts, trading, rewards, etc.
- Fantasy League bracket scouting. Showing the percentages of cars picked by other players (like in the old version)
- Fantasy League jackpot mini game. Extra chance game attached to tournaments with big credit payout but less points.
- Fantasy League improved car search page. Redesign to highlight new cars better.
- Fantasy League player stat section. Pages showing historical data for players, charts and stat stuff.
- Fantasy League host track car variant info and tracking. Let hosts easily show which version of cars are actually being raced.
- New product, personal tournament tracking. This one is big. New app that lets you log your own in-house tournaments with car tracking and data. Might tie into Fantasy League somehow.
- Shared login between the forums and fantasy league
- Fantasy league guest accounts.
- Fantasy league play on smartphones
- Better Facebook integration of the Fantasy League
- Fantasy League intranet for track hosts to submit results online
- Mail-in manager for series tournaments (like the featherweight challenge)
- Custom car gallery for members to show off creations (outside of forums)
- Improve (new) Fantasy League email notifications

You probably your own wish list of stuff you'd like to see added, or get fixed or removed that isn't in my list. Not only am I interested in hearing about what you about items on the list above, I want to know what's on your list. Please post your thoughts below or PM if you feel the ned.

Can we see a list of those who are already registered or are going to be attending an event? That would be really great!

Also, can we have Youtube video embedding on the forums?

Those are my requests.

@Worpex - You can see which people have registered for your mail-in tournaments through the dashboard and then using the "Your tournaments" tab and the "Manage" button. All entries should be listed and from there you can see names and contact information.

For the non-mailin tournaments, you just have the "Interest" number on the "Your events" tab of the dashboard. People don't have to be logged in to click their "I'm interested" button so a number is the only real data available consistently, which is then just intended to give you an idea of people that might come. It's not really meant to be an RSVP.

YouTube in the forum...I'll have to check. I'm sure there is a plugin that can make that happen. Hopefully an easy win

That was easy. Ask and ye shall receive...

To add a video, just get the ID of the video you want to post from YouTube (see bold part below) and then paste it into your forum post. Then highlight it and click the "youtube" button in the toolbar. It will wrap what you pasted with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeUVOy5bVjQ

Nice. Thanks!

I'm not talking about when you're the host. I'd be nice to see whose going to an event when you ARENT the host.

I know I've already spoken on what I want to see most and my vote goes for the in-home tournaments app. I think this will help players be a part of the game not just players of the game. I know for one that I'd have a blast racing especially when I know the results could be posted for all to see.
That being said. I do know that this is a BIG addition and it will take time.
I do like all the other suggestions, some are really cool but very luxurious, like the car show room and the stys and charts on people profiles, they'd be awesome to have but the basics of the fantasy league should be addressed first.

If I ever get a reply about being a host track...

I worked on recording what cars I have in Excel and converted to a web page: http://kracon.dyndns.tv/HotWheels/HW2012C.htm Only the 2010-2012 is up-to-date. I have so many cars to log into this thing it's going to take allot of time. Anyhow if I'm hosting a league race I'll post what year/style of a car I'll be running. I can take pics of my personal car and change the IMG to point to the exact car I'm running.

@kracon - I know, sorry....I'm way behind on lots of things. I've had to do things during my lunch hour at work so it's been slow. I'll pm you with links soon.

I've been trying to embed a video using this method with no luck.
What am I doing wrong?
Has anybody else embeded a video?

Make sure you have only the ID number of the video, then highlight it and click the "youtube" button.

So if this is the link to your video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeUVOy5bVjQ

The ID number you want is: CeUVOy5bVjQ

Put that in your post, highlight and then click the 'youtube' button and should should look something like this
[youtube]CeUVOy5bVjQ[youtube]

Once you submit your post, the video should appear.

However - and this is for everyone posting videos - be aware of how many videos are on a page and try not include more than a few videos within a thread. The more videos a page has, the longer it takes to load.
