'Best of Show' Competition begins 10-7-24!!!

This is my first mail-in tournament on my new 'Moonshine Dragstrip' orange continuous track, so I'm keeping it simple. I'm inviting all of my closest diecast friends to enter and compete against the best builders in the hobby today. Join us, shall you? (Maybe we'll get to 67 entries???!!!)

The casting I've chosen for this inaugural event will be the Hot Wheels '67 Camaro. Why? Because it's my favorite Hot Wheels casting!

We will be using the hardtop version only, but it can be the original metal on metal version, or one of many plastic/metal or metal/plastic variations that have came out since.

No convertibles, No other brand casting. Hot Wheels Only!

Rules & restrictions

** UPDATED RULES AS OF 7-26-24 **

• Limited to Hot Wheels '67 Camaro' Modified entries only! (No 'Off Road' versions or 'Heavy Chevy' Spoiler editions allowed)
• Custom paint, decals and/or 'Race car number' of your choice encouraged but not required. (There will be a 'Best in Show' competition & separate prize for the winner, so make them look sharp!)
• 67g maximum weight NO GRACE!
• 3.25in. long x 2in. tall x 1.25in. wide
• Limit 1 entries per household
• Wheel swaps allowed, but retail axles must be used with BLACK WHEELS ONLY!!! FTE/NPA axles allowed. NO COLORED OR FANTASY WHEELS.
• Must keep same diameter and width wheels as original casting front and rear. NO SKINNY WHEELS ALLOWED.
• Any lube
• No Bearings. No Axel Tubes. Standard width, Stock Axels Only
• No wheel cutting or coning. Sanding surface to true wheels okay.
• Sanding/Filing the bottom of the chassis to remove any potential nubs or other casting protrusions that may contact the track surface okay.
• No stretching. No body or window filling. No fender hogging.
• No weights outside of the casting.
• Nothing may be added to the body or front of the car to extend or enhance it's timer beam-breaking capability.
• Hood opening castings may remove it or glue hood shut to avoid rattle.
• Must have original windows. Painted windows okay.
• Recycles okay, as long as they meet the criteria as stated in the rules herein.

All entries must be received by the host before Monday, 10/7/2024. Racing is scheduled for Sunday, 10/13/2024. Video coverage and race results will be posted on or after that date on the host's 'Craigster Sr. - Hot Nuts Diescast' Facebook page and You Tube channel as is convenient for the host.

**An effort to contact the builder will be made in an attempt to resolve any 'Non-passing' issues based on the rules herin and host's discretion.

I'm mainly posting this list to be as transparent as possible for those who choose to send cash for return shipping. I would prefer PayPal, so that we both have a digital paper trail, but I will post updates here to keep everything above board. Thank You All for entering!!! Craig 

How to enter

Include a $5.00 Entry fee and at least $10.00 for return shipping if you want your entries back. Please send cash or payment through PayPal (message host for info). Entries not getting returned will be kept by the race host for use in future events and other photo/video opportunities.

Include a Race Entry ID slip with your entry

Racing will be on the Moonshine Dragstrip. View track profile and specs

Race format and scoring

This will be a single-elimination random bracket style tournament. The car with the best time for that round will move on in the bracket. Cars will alternate lanes between each race round, and a 'Slanman Customs' timing system will be used to determine winner each race.

The car that wins the final race using the above race format with the fastest time will be declared the winner, and the runner up will claim second place. There will be a race-off between the runners up from both sides of the bracket to determine third place. Race host has final decision in all races.

Bracket seeding will be random.

Penalties/DNF

Cars will be given NO GRACE over the stated weight limit of 67g, so don't push your luck too much! I have two scales, and your entry must weigh 67 grams OR LESS on both of them!

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for victory. Offending cars will still race. Finish position and any prize will go to the runner-up in the case of the penalty car winning.

Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins. Cars that break during racing will not be repaired or replaced.

Prizes

There will be a 'Best in Show' competition with a prize for the winner, as well as a trophy for first place, second place and third place.

Best in show competition will be held the week of 10-7-24 by votes tallied from posts on the official 1967 Camaro Cavalcade Driver introductions, 'Best In Show' video posted on the Craigster Sr. - Hot Nuts Diecast YouTube page. The top seven entries with the most votes will be judged by a group of my co-workers in a controlled office environment. In my personal office I will have the cars securely displayed, out of touch from anyone else's hands but mine. The entry from those ten that receives the most votes will be proclaimed the 'Best In Show' and receive a trophy.
