Working on this track build. Hoping to start some diorama soon and see what I can do. I am not normally the arts/crafts type but I love me some Hot Wheels and seeing the tracks out there got me intrigued, so...here we go I guess.

Your track is coming along great. You have a good space there. Track building is so much fun and racing on it is even better! Congratulations and keep us posted.

That's looking friggin sweet!

Certainly an enviable build space!! Digging the early 270 degree turn in the corner, plus it appears relatively easy to film

Great start, I like where this is heading!!

  • Thank you. I was trying to get the most of the height I had to work with. Big room but not tall. — MainelyDiecastRacing

That’s a serious track, great job.

I updated the track with some new Spool Heads pieces (or old if you will as his new store is about to launch in a few days) and added some pics at the top. It has proven impossible to get diorama up; out in the shed, so I am considering a new track build in the basement (my recording studio/dj booth/card and D&D book storage area/hotwheels modifying zone..might need to curb the hobbies...lol) as it would be easier to do diorama in the house. I will probs run races on Needle Drop as well as in the basement...TBD

Not quite feeling comfortable with audio/video editing (as I have never really done it) so I am not quite ready to host races but I am super curious what other builds will get for times so I will try to get some practice in this fall/winter.

  • the other problem with the shed would be humidity. Since most white hobby glues are not waterproof, condensation can ruin a bunch of hard work in no time. — dr_dodge
  • looking amazing as a layout! — dr_dodge
  • thanks for the info!! I have just not wanted to go out there while the kiddo is sleeping but...good point. — MainelyDiecastRacing
  • Simple video edits and the audio, write your script based on what you see and think. Commentary will come to you as you talk through it. I use Audacity to record my voice overs. I prefer a headset when recording my voice over, but a simple mic will work as well. The track looks grand! — Midwest_Diecast_Raceway
  • I know if I built high up like that here in Aus, I would be concerned with heat , expansion contraction of the track, and warping 3D parts. So I think basement a great idea for you! Cheers, good luck! — CutRock_R_Marc_D
  • Yeah it definitely got pretty hot up there this summer and one piece warped that was in direct sunlight. I am going to cover those windows to keep the sun out and insulate a little to keep some of the heat out. — MainelyDiecastRacing
  • Any video of test runs? — alva1370
  • There is one short video on his 'MainelyDiecastRacing' channel — ManiacMotorsports
  • I’ll put some more up soon. — MainelyDiecastRacing
  • Wow, fast track — alva1370

Looking good! You have a great space to work with... good luck with it!

That's awesome! Keep us updated on your build! Good luck!

I uploaded a short video (only put some music over the video and spliced footage of the 4 races together) on youtube in case anyone wanted to see cars going down the track. Went with Mustangs vs Camaro's. First attempt at video editing of any kind. lol
