Postponed: Hollywood Wannabes Challenge mail-in series
UPDATE: Due to limited interest and a change in host availability, this series will be postponed until a later date. My apologies for any inconvenience. If you already started a custom car, please save it. Otherwise, please check out the race calendar for other opportunities.
We all have our favorite TV and movie cars...The Dukes' Charger...The Batmobile...Marty's DeLorean...there's plenty to pick from. And at some point we've all dreamed of owning that car but for most of us, it remains just that, a dream - unless you get creative.
The Hollywood Wannabes Challenge asks you to create your favorite TV/movie car without using same make/model as the famous car you're copying. For example, if you want to enter the General Lee, you'd have to make it without using a Charger as your base. You would have to paint any other car to look like the General. And likewise, if the actual car exists in diecast form, like the Batmobile, you can't enter that...you have to make the Batmobile out of another car (or cars).
It all comes down to how the car looks, so bust out your paint and watch some reruns for inspiration. Be creative and look through your donors. Who knows, you could craft an even cooler version of some classic Hollywood car.

Discussion
I like the idea for this event. Should be some cool entries!
I cut the roof off of a '32 Delivery to make a 1928 Porter Touring Car...from the TV series My Mother the Car ! 1965 & '66.... [guy's mom was re-incarnated as the car] .
Bet his dates got a ride "straight home" !
"Ma da' Ca" ;
Grill & Lights to come, with Wide White Wall spare to be fender mounted, Gov'ner's wheels on FTE axles mounted in TE/ C10 "tubes", JB'ed under the base for the nosebleed / antique look... Needs 32.6 more grams...
Seats removed and 32 grams of lead, covered with a black Hockey Stick Tape interior, using a strip of blister as the so upholstered seatback...
@Smitty - Just paint it up so it looks like the car from the show and that sounds fair. Only hard rule on this on is that you not use the famous car model as a base. So if the show is a 1928 Porter and you're using a 1932 Delivery, that's all good.
A buddy informed me that the movie car was a '26 /'27 Ford T touring body, modded to be a Porter [don't think there ever was one], but there was a mucky-muck in the studio who was named Porter...
The studio bought the Touring from Norm Grabowski... [owned the Cookie T]...
ut oh... i've stepped in it now, after complaining about the weight, I went back to the 1st comment to clarify the # of cars to be entered...
I noticed the weight limit was changed from 68 to 65... after I complained... duh.
"ma da ca" is a poultry 68.4 grams...
weight is a solid lead block, glued in, with upholstery glued on... will have to ruin it to remove some lead...
I thought 0.4 grams over might be ok... but 3.4 g's... no !...
.
........ Any chance you can change back to 68 grams ?...
If so, I can just cut off Mom's rear bumper to scrub the .4 grams... and make weight...
Printed up a series Blister for Ma'... Brian, Please add it to the "prize pile" after the race...
Not the California Kid it's the Carolina Kid... Neet Streeter instead of '34 Coupe ...
Flamed stickers by Deano ;
Carolina Kid... windshield added... 62.9 grams, I shaved a little off this one to make up for Ma's extra displacement ;
The hood top flames stretched when pulling them from the card, different lengths...
I should have made the re-useable cards as a winner and a runner up so Brian could re-cycle them, but didn't think of it in time ... but I did get one for the winner ;
Put me in for this. I will host also. May 30th would be great. Thanks.
Anyone else care to host? I'd like to have at least 2 member tracks involved...we have one. I know May is ending up to be a busy month...if no one else is game, I can reschedule for later in the year.

Hmm... Idea! Turn Ricky Bobby's Ford Taurus into either a Charger, Monte Carlo, or Grand Prix. All I need is a repaint on an existing Racing Champions model. You know, because how many John Andretti, Bobby Labonte, etc, #43 Pontiacs and Dodges do I have? Too many! And that fits your "no same car" rule. I'll see when I can do it and get back to you.
hight limit of 2" eliminates DRAG TRACKS from hosting 1.3" max...
most cars today have plastic bases... were do you put 30 plus extra grams of lead... call jenny !
