Camera to Tripod made easy

model40fan Sunday, 6/8/2014

I bought a tripod that did not match my camera brand...

The threads under my camera are into plastic, I put a 1" section of threaded rod through the tripod's plate with a jam nut. ....But...... it was easy to cross thread the plastic, if you use a tripod a lot this may help...

Grab [2] 1/2" PVC end caps and 2" of 1/2" PVC tube, drill a 1/4" hole through the end caps, install  1/2"  to 3/4" long 1/4"-20 screws from the inside, screw a 1/4"-20 jam nut on each...

Screw one of the threaded ends into the tripod,

screw the other end cap into the camera,

but now you can see what you are doing when attatching the PVC unit to camera's plastic...

Once attatched to both pieces,  pop the PVC sections together... this will save the camera's threads...
