Vintage 1969 Redline Loop and Track Builder Loop...both will be part of a new track called Damnation Alley...a name I coped from one of my favorite movies as a kid of the 70's.

I'm scrapping the plans for Old Glory Raceway, as the rest of The Legion of Speed said we don't need another Dragway. So, there will be Loops, Jumps and the Finish will be a section of Bottle Neck track.

There will be other features as well to make this track unique and fun. This will be the 4th and final track at the League of Speed Racing Grounds . Planned inaugural race for October...the month Damnation Alley was released in 1977.

Sounds fun what cars are legal for the race

Let me get the track built for the October race...and I'll post the race details in September.

Cool name for the track. We too like that ol' movie.....

Are you going to have huge roaches eating up the losers?? :>)

  • Ha!!! Hoping to have some in the diorama...scorpions as well. — LeagueofSpeed

I'm looking forward to getting some s scale buildings and such and giving them the nuked treatment. It's going to be a fun project/build for sure!!!

...need to get a Stinger casting and mod it into the Landmaster.

Decided on this for the jump, as cars will leave the two lane on the jump and enter open track aka "The Wastelands" as they race to the Finish....love the flames on the landing ramp, as it fits the theme.

  • CC Riders Drag n Fly had some influence on this build. — LeagueofSpeed

  • Bonus was the car...essentially an FTE sine Race Aces have nickel platted axels and this car has FTE wheels!!! — LeagueofSpeed

Very cheaply built by Mattel, but I knew that going in...plus when I'm finished with it...it will be stout. I'm going to brace the landing ramp so it's rigid with no bounce/trampoline effect and permanently attach it to a wood base.

The only thing I'll use from the launcher is the legs/struts and will convert it to a two lane ramp after the loop section.

Then modify this little transition so it's smooth as the cars enter the open track section aka The Wastelands. This a definite design flaw, as if this was a downhill gravity race section, it would bump the cars up and off the track a good percentage of the time....but easy fix.

Going to be a fun build and a fun track...the launcher will be heading out to Southern Utah and my man G-Force in hopes that he can have some fun with it....CC Rider as well :).

The old and the new...didn't like the connector in the newer Track Builder Loop and the older Redline Loop base is not as stable as the newer Track Builder...so the Redline track is longer and more flexible, so no connector needed...nice merge of Hot Wheels eras...I dig it.

Scorpions and Roaches....yes please.

The Fat Track came in yesterday, so now the open track section known as the Wastelands has all its supplies. Also,I had an idea to make the race a little more diverse using the 3D Botmaker Finish Line even though it wouldn't be the actual finish to the race. This is going to be a fun and unique race...that I promise.

More to come....

Often times a track build changes as you get your supplies, I'm happy to say I will be able to do away with the bottom section of the landing ramp and it's awful transition spot...I'm most likely going to attach the bottom  of the ramp permanently to the 2' fat track section and make it one piece all together in the build of Damnation Alley.
