FIREBALL - The Cannonball Run Edition (by Invitation)

Welcome to The FIREBALL - The Cannonball Run Edition.  A Cannonball inspired 1:64 Scale Diecast Racing event.  This is an Invitational Cannonball, where Drivers race on their own for the best time across the USA from Toronto to LA on 3 Tracks.  Drivers earn bragging rights for the fastest overall time.  This event can be run anytime during the year.

Invitations have already been given out to a few Drivers.  BUT I'm always looking for new candidates.  If you really want to participte and think that you have what it takes, contact Marcus Firegone here or on Facebook.  I'm looking for clean, good looking, real-world looking car builds that are competitive.  Send me a link to a YouTube video of an event that you have participated in so that I can check it out.

Rules & restrictions

• Invitation Only
• No maximum weight limit
• Almost anything goes (watch some Cannonball movies for inspiration)
• Must be Street Legal (you don't want to get pulled over by the Police)
• Does no have to be exotic, could be an every day driver.
• Get pre-approval for your Casting choice
• Must fit on standard Hot Wheels Tracks
• Real-world looking (clear/black windows, black/gray wheels)
• Any modification to the car must be in the spirit of Real-World cars
• If your car is fictional include a back story as to how this could be a real-world car
• Driver figures in cars (i.e.: Convertibles) not required (Convertibles must have full interior)
• No Number required
• Custom Paint & Decals optional
• Dry lube only

Dates & deadlines

Contact the Host for details.  Racing is scheduled to start September 2023. Results will be posted after that date as is convenient for the host.

How to enter

By Invitiation Only.  Don't forget to include your Driver's Name, and Sponsor (i.e.: Team Name).

$10 (to cover cost of mailing between tracks)

Contact the tournament host to get the shipping address for entry.

Include a Race Entry ID slip with your entry

• The Tiger's Tail Raceway (Illinois)
• Bay City Speedway (San Francisco)

Race format and scoring

No Points are awarded.  Cars are run individually and lap times are recoreded.  Includes video of Lap.  Once and done (not your best time but just one shot at it).  If your car does not complete the lap it is removed and placed at the top of the track with the timmer still running.  The total time it takes your car to reach the finish gate is recorded as your time.  Lap restarts while the timmer is still going accounts for being pulled over by the Police.

Lap times for all 3 Tracks are added together for your total time score.

Video will show your car completing all 3 tracks.  Plan to send cars in groups of 10 or less at a time but will due multiple runs for aditional cars multiple times in a year.  Entries are allowed one car/run a year.

Penalties/DNF

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for victory. Offending cars will still race. Finish position and any prize will go to the runner-up in the case of the penalty car winning.

Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins. Cars that break during racing will not be repaired or replaced.
