GRAVITY CHAOS RALLY CROSS 2025


Tracks
1. Gravity Throttle Racing - Shavano Mountain for Rounds 1 & 2 – Mountain style course with drifting, jumps, open track and washboard section
2. Chaos Canyon - Possum Hills for Rounds 3 & 4 – Twisting country dirt road farm/forest style course including an uphill section, jumps and uneven sections
General Rules
• Cars must be received at Gravity Throttle Racing no later than 31st of Jan 2025 for a Feb start
• Cars are not returned, they will be given to the winner of the rally
• There is a $10 entry fee to be sent with the car or paid to the Gravity Throttle Racing account, to cover some of the transportation and prize costs
• Cars must have at least a partial interior (steering wheel/dash) and at least one driver figure. You can add a co-driver if wanted
• Cars must have clear windows – stock black/smoke tints are ok but do not paint them to black them out (simulated dirt on a windscreen is ok)
• Custom rally car paint job and graphics, must look like a professional rally team – no offensive or smoking livery
• Max height 26mm, Max width 31mm
• Min front clearance 1mm of vertical clearance every 5 mm horizontally from the front and rear wheel centerline, Max front clearance 5mm
• Limited models – Nissan Skyline GTR-34, Honda Civic SI or Type R, Volvo 850, Lancia Delta Integrale, Ford Escort, Subaru Impreza/WRX, 71 Datsun Wagon, 84 Audi Quattro, 08 Ford Focus, Toyota AE86, Toyota GR/GT86/Scion, Porsche Rallye, 73 BMW 3.0 CSL, Mercury Cougar, Audi Quattro, Mini Countryman, Ford Sierra Cosworth and BMW M3 wagon
• Any wheels allowed as long at the tyre area is black – no coloured, clear or fantasy wheels. Wheels can be sanded and/or coned
• Any axles allowed, can be tubed, glued, polished, custom, pins etc
• Any lube allowed
• Cars must have a number (clearly printed) on both doors plus on the hood or roof. Numbers to be between 0 and 999 and must be noted when you put your name down. They will be first in first served. Your number will be confirmed with your name in the driver list we’ll put in this post. If the number you want is already taken, you will be asked to choose another number
• Weight Limit -
o Min weight 50g
o Max weight 58g

Competition Rules & Point Scoring
• 32 cars will compete, 4 alternates allowed in case of no-show or disqualification. Registration is first in first served, only one entry per person, max two per household – you cannot build two cars for yourself to race under different names, this is to allow as many people to enter as possible. Registration only counts on the official driver call thread on Redline Derby. Do not register on the FB group, YT page etc as it won’t count
• Qualifying for start positions – applies at both tracks
o Cars will race one at a time to set their group positions based on time, best time out of three runs taken
• Race style
o Rally cross racing over jumps, rough terrain etc may cause cars to not cross finish line, but you can still earn points by passing checkpoints along the track or passing specific bonus sections, see below regarding points
o Four races, one start in each lane
o Two groups will race each video (8 cars)
• Based on the first round points, we regroup the cars for a second time and they race again, points are cumulative across both tracks
• Race Scoring
o 6 checkpoints will be placed around the track and drivers will get 1 point for every checkpoint passed
o Additionally, points will be awarded as follows
- 1st place 6 points
- 2nd place 4 points
- 3rd place 2 points
- 4th place 1 point
- DNF’s get only however many checkpoints they’ve passed
o At Chaos Canyon, there will also be an additional point for every car that takes the Joker lane
o At Gravity Throttle Racing, there will be an additional set of points for train jumps. First over the train gets 2 points, second over the train gets 1 point
o Fastest lap time of each round of 8 races gets an additional point

Prizes
This is a winner takes all competition.

Overall winner - wins all the cars from the competition, plus a trophy and custom t-shirt with their car on it.

Best in Show award – separate to the racing, viewers can vote for their favourite car whenever they race and the one with the most votes by the end of the comp wins a t-shirt with their car on it and a best in show trophy. Note, votes only count on the video the car is featured in. Voting on a video it isn’t in doesn’t count.

Speed Demon award (x2) – There will be a fastest race time (doesn’t include qualifying runs, only race times) at each track and each winner will receive a custom t-shirt with their car on it and a speed demon trophy.
