How much time do you need as a builder?
HI all. I know I seen a post on here with this talked about I may have even asked the question before. I am wondering how much notice do you need to prepair a car for a event. My Next event i am trying to figure out when to post. or how long i want to make the event. My main event is Custom Carnage. I also have my W.A.R series. I am thinking about changing up my W.A.R series or Adding a new event all together. posible 3 diffrent events per year. If i am lucky 4. hopefully 2 custom carnage(big Ones) a year 2 small ones a W.A.R and a ??? So again how much notice for a event would you all need to send in cars. Thanks for your feed back. If I already have the cars I need, 2-3 weeks. If I don't have a car I need for the race it'll be a month or more.

- lol. It's all about having a system and not rushing yourself. That and really really good wheels. Ha ha. — FeralPatrick
Doesn't matter for me... if you said send me something tomorrow... I'd stop what I was doing and get you one! lol Always up for a race at the Comet Tail!
But it you want a good competitive car, a month is probably the right amount.
I can get a car out in a week or two if I have the casting. If I need to order one, add another week.
One month notice works for me as long as I have the casting.
I can build a car and send it in less than a week, but I prefer to have some time, so maybe 3-4 weeks would be nice.
Don't forget shipping
I want mine in the mail 1-2 weeks befor the race (domestic)
and 2 weeks for canadain shipping, plus at least 2-3 weeks to build it
personally, I hate the casting chase for specific cars

- The cost of shipping keeps me out of the game. — alva1370
- I try not to do specific casting. I want builders have options. And be creative have fun not stress over having that one car!! Or one casting. — Comet_Tail_Raceway
- About the sole time I thought casting rules were a might too restrictive was when it was one truck that appeared only twice and in the Hot Wheels premium line. On the other end, a single casting event with something that is a moderate peg warmer and accessible, not a bad way to go — Chris_Hood
- Alva1370 you should look at USPS Click-n-Ship. You get discounted shipping by doing the weighing and printing the labels — AbbyNormal
Rick, you've always done a great job in allowing such a wide range of cars for modified events. No one has to scramble to find the ONE car, or something out of just eight castings to enter. Even if a builder has many "irons in the fire" at the time you announce an event, a month's notice is the sweet spot, as backed up by DSR, FeralPatrick and StoopidFish; those guys are down to party as soon as the doors open
People will always fill the time they have :) I think the 1-month time frame is a minimum given the noted shipping time randomness. But remember, it's also about you and your time. If you know you want a race on November 1, post it now...the more lead up the better. I'm a firm believer that there will always be people sending in a car if there's a race posted, so I'd always recommend going the route of, "I'm hosting, hope you can join," rather than, "When can you join, I'll host then."
Just in case, here are some oldie but goldie posts to help with thinking and planning:

I'm always building but don't always have the proper casting modded... 3-4 weeks is optimum I think
I would say it's 1 month for me as well - 2 weeks to build the car - a week for tweaking and painting - and a week to emotionally prepare myself to package and mail it off to oblivion
The one-month rule seems to be the most used, with about ten days of that for shipping.

Realistically I only need a couple weeks. Saying that, it doesn't matter how much time I have, I'll still be sending it right at the wire...
