Making a new Redline Derby, work log

To the RLD community...due to some recent technical difficulties, I'm being forced to rebuild some (or all) of the Redline Derby website. What all this entails I'm still figuring out but there's not an overnight solution, although I will be working on it as much as possible for the immediate future. 

What I expect this to mean is that various features and sections of the website may be turned off or eliminated entirely while things get fixed. Normally I would do all the work privately and not release it for the public until it's done and ready, but I'm not sure we have that luxury this time around, which is unfortunate. Believe me that I'll be doing my best to avoid having you suffer through the ups & downs of this, but some of that will be unavoidable.

Thankfully, I'm confident that very little of the posts and images we've made over the last 17 years will be at risk. I'm doing my best to back everything up so it can be restored later. Just a fun fact, we've uploaded more 23,000 images which accounts for almost 90GB of data...fyi, that's a lot.

I completely understand if the recent tech problems have reduced your trust in the website...I would feel the same way, honestly. But I'm very hopeful that things can be remedied a bit and we can all return to our happy conversations about racing toy cars...things just might look a little different for a while.

I'm going to use this thread to log my activities so y'all can know what's up if you happen to visit one day and things are completely different. I will also use the RLD Facebook page if I know the website will be out of commission for any stretch of time.

All in all, my apologies for all this. It came out of the blue and now gotta deal with it, so it is was it is. I appreciate your patience and your support over what could be the next many months. I'm not giving up on RLD and I hope you won't either...even if it means taking a break.

Priorities

• The forum is my first concern to remedy. There's almost 20 years of discussion about everything in our hobby.
• The events & standings are a very close second (and they're kinda tied to the forum anyway). I know folks like their racing stats and such, so I'm going to do my best to migrate that data into whatever comes next
• Just about everything else after those 2 are secondary and practically expendable. I love the track directory but it may go away until the core services are restored. Image uploading may be turned off or limited to help relieve some of data burden.

This website has evolved over many years and I think there are some wonderful things that can come out of being able to reduce and rethink the site a bit...down to it's core and then expand again from there.
