Starting the week of July 4th, we’ll be running a 3 race series for modified lightweight cars on a new rally course at Rust Belt Raceway Park! That means, to enter, you must send in cars that have been modified for weight, stance, speed, etc. Now, with all that’s going around, the dates could change.

The rules and restrictions:
All brands allowed.
Modified cars only, added weight allowed
Vehicle must have 4 wheels attached
Weight may be added inside or outside the vehicle as long as it is secured and will not fall off.
Each racer may enter up to 2 cars (max of 8 cars per team)
Any wheels and axles allowed
Dry lube (graphite) only

When sending a car, you must fill out the entry form found in the Announcements tab in the Facebook group Rust Belt Diecast Racing (or Redline Derby form).
Declare your intent to race and number of cars by posting in this event.
Cars must be received by July 1, 2020 to be eligible to race.
PM Josh Paufler for shipping address.
If you’d like your car back, please PayPal $5 for return shipping after the race. If you don’t want it back, it will be given to the series winner.

Points:
Points will be awarded for wins, positions place and special races throughout the series.
There will be elimination races throughout the week but all racers will be guaranteed at least 3 races.
The racer with the most combined points at the end of the series will be the winner.
Full season schedule will be released before the season starts.
Any questions, ask them here.
Now let’s go racing!

Race format and scoring

This will be a single-elimination tournament. A car will move on in the bracket only when it wins two races (best out of 3). Cars will alternate lanes between each race.

The car with the most cumulative points will be declared the winner. Race host has final decision in all races.

Bracket seeding will be random.

Penalties/DNF

Cars are given a grace of 1g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for victory. Offending cars will still race. Finish position and any prize will go to the runner-up in the case of the penalty car winning.

Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins. Cars that break during racing will not be repaired or replaced.

  • I need more tools. — redlinederby
  • I’m the 6th owner of this old house and everyone apparently saw themselves as handymen so I inherited tons of random supplies. I’m building this out of what I have around the house since I can’t go to a hardware store. — RustBeltRacing

Count me in. I have 2 drivers, so 4 cars for us

Old all plastic car weighed in at 5 grams. Gutted it, new wheels and some weights.

  • Nice. I love that you had to add weights to get to 20 grams :) — Chaos_Canyon
  • I know, I was scratching my head trying to find something that light and came across this. — GTRguy83
