80's Ultra Hots and Paint Stripper

Honeycreek_Diecast Tuesday, 9/2/2025

I have a 83' Aeroflash Ultra Hots I want to repaint before I start assembling it back together for one of my first modded cars but want to remove this tampo. Will Citri Strip paint stripper remove it if I brush a little onto the small sections on top with a tampo?

If that is bare metal already, you could just use Flitz metal polish and a buffing wheel. Or dry erase marker. Or acetone. But citrus strip will work as well. I have one older hot wheel from the 70s that I was actually able to remove the tampos AND the paint with isopropyl alcohol alone.

  • I have tried regular dry erase (not the low odor) and it didn't budge, that's why I asked about Citri Strip, but I'll try the metal polishing compound too see if that works! Thank you for the suggestions l appreciate it — Honeycreek_Diecast

Citristrip will remove the tampo AND the paint,  in this case just being metal you are good. Dry erase marker also removes tampos but doesn't harm the paint.  Just color it on and wipe away.  May have to do a few times but it works, if marker sticks bit of rubbing alcohol will remove.

  • It's bare metal and those few tampons, so paint stripper shouldn't effect it too much. — Honeycreek_Diecast
