Axle Rods

BadWoolRacing Tuesday, 12/20/2022

I've seen where both #17 and #20 sewing pins are recommended for axles but I am curious if there is a recommended size for the brass tubing used for inserting the pins into to complete the axles. Can anybody share their knowledge on this?

  • That was a good read, some good insight especially about cutting glue windows into the tubing in order to fix the axles within. — BadWoolRacing

1/16 x.014 brass tubing

1.57mm hobby lobby. Make sure you get brass

  • I was thinking brass to begin with but noticed that Hobby Lobby offers aluminum as well? Is aluminum not recommended because it is softer and (speculating here) prone to bending/warping? — BadWoolRacing

Amazon

  • a fun fact, #8125 is the tubing used, but with K&S #8126 will slip tightly over #8125, and all their tubing follows that pattern. My bench stock goes up to 1/2", & each tube fits inside one and outside the other. very useful — dr_dodge
