Best Lubricating Oil

rowzter85 Tuesday, 5/10/2016

Hi Guys,

We have a track in Aruba, and we are allowed to use oils / lubricants / etc.

Krytox is good, but very hard to find on the island, does anybody know any other types of oil which is also similar to Krytox ? Is gun oil, trumpet oil, chain lub good ? Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

This may sound gross, but...

I was once told by My Scout Master back in the 80's

If you never want to struggle pulling your 2 section fishing pole apart, use the oil from the skin on the outside, ( repeat, OUTSIDE) of the side of your nose to lubricate the connection.

He was right. NOONE ever had trouble.

('Cept for that one kid, who had trouble with the whole left/right start/stop inside/outside thing...lol)

try johnson's baby oil + olive oil + few drops of WD40. Depending on what race you participate the composition of mixing the oil may be differ i.e. long track (20-40 meter) you might want to make the oil a little bit 'thicker' so that it will not dry easily because of the long distance. Try baby oil 30:70 olive oil. It works for me, at least.

Most of those will destroy your car's wheels, don't risk it in an expensive gem or something you have worked hard at to build to speed. Supposedly LaBelle 107 model train oil will not harm the plastic wheels. I expirimented with a few junker cars at home for fun once to see if it really does make much of a difference. It really did speed them up, but that stuff can get messy. You'll want to wipe down your track with at least a napkin or something after you race oiled cars if you don't want this stuff getting on others.
