Birthday Dixie Challenger

Was looking back at some old birthday photos, as today is my birthday, and found one of me getting a toy I remember very well and one that probably helped start this whole hobby.

This Dixie Challenger set is the reason one of the first customs/restores I did when I started Redline Derby was the Challenger. I found repro decals and it sits on my shelf as a reminder of the good old days, when all we did have to worry about was Hot Wheels and fun.

Happy birthday Brian! Ah the good ole days.

Very cool. My wife has the same set still and we pulled it out starge for my 8 year old son to play with, but the track has become brittle over time.

Great photo Brian! Ah, memories. My first set was the 'Turbo Blast' set (1977), which came with the grey Z Whiz Datsun and the black Porsche 911.

This is the one that got away. Have no idea what happened to it. Wish I still had that P911, it's worth over $400 today.
Hope your birthday was Wicked!!
