Bracket management application

As I see more and more of you guys running your own tournaments and posting the results here (which is awesome!) I'm starting to revisit an old idea of making a public service for bracket management. Basically taking what is used for the Fantasy League and opening it up so people (you) can create your own inventory of cars, photos, setup brackets and log results. So the fantasy league without all the points and stuff. Cool part would be all the data that is collected good be filtered and referenced a lot of different ways that would give everyone insight to car performance.

Not like I have a lot of free time to work on this outright but I think it could be a by-product of Fantasy League development.

Sound interesting? Would you use such an app?

Absolutely!! It might make a nice tool for referencing the history of unknown castings in the RDR fantasy league.

I know that you've got a lot going already, but I'd use it!

I'd probably ditch my own site to use it. haha. The bracket management on my site is terrible (Takes forever to make them, yay html!) and Im not skilled enough to make it better.

I'd use it.

I had a vision over my holiday vacation that has me rethinking things a bit for the site and league at large.

Everything I have planned for the fantasy league is still on the board but I think I'm going to expand the site to be half-game and half-service for non-RDR racing. So along with playing in the league for points and stuff, you can post your own private tournament results, you can setup your own mail-in tournament with registration system, and there would be an general use calendar for all of it, including live events like conventions, club dates, etc. All those things combined would be creating a super public database of racing data.

Not that the forums here and elsewhere don't do the job well but as I saw you guys posting more and more results and events here, I figured there is obviously a need for a system that makes that process easy and more organized. The big picture in my head is Redline Derby being a sort of "hub" for racing events and also the race database. The game will still be a big focus and everything will tie into the game show how with points and credits.

So a lot the stuff you saw previously for the Fantasy League update in the Spring is kind of going out the window, at least from a visual standpoint. I'm incorporating some new tools to build my new vision so things might not look as sexy as I'd like, but will hopefully work pretty well.

In part to all these new ideas, I'm in super motivated mode so I might be able to get something out the door by March...hopefully. We'll see. Bear with me.

Sounds like a plan . . . keep up the good work!
Can't wait to see what's in store for us.

Awesome plans! I'm looking forward to it all.
