Bringing Home More Hardware

Yesterday marked the final race of the year in our league races and the first full year that we have run on the track after finding the track half way through the season last year.

It was a great year for us as we took home multiple point championships and had four cars that were crowned as the fastest car in their division for the entire year. There were 8 divisions and we placed in the top 3 in every one except for one.

Cade took home the championship in the Late Model class when the points leader was shut out and Cade got enough points to take the championship by one single point. He was leading the truck division by 1 point going into the final race and failed to make the top 4. That meant he got passed for the championship, but still ended up in 2nd place for another trophy. They then did the run off for all of the trucks that won during the year (the league keeps them) and his 09 Ford F-150 was a beast. It was beating trucks that show up at the end of the season that have never been beat. In the double elimination race off, this truck never lost and was crowned fastest truck of 2011. In the Slow Poke Class (last to cross the finish line), Cade was one point out of the lead and got 2nd place where the points leader scored 0. That gave Cade the points championship for the year. They also have a "theme" class where people can enter a car for that particular theme. Cade won the July theme and then it was voted as the best themed vehicle and he won a medal for that.

Coby was in the battle for 2nd place in the Kids class. He needed a 1st or 2nd place finish on the day and then hope the 2nd place person didn't score any points. The 2nd place kid was shut out, but Coby was only able to bring home a 3rd place finish. That locked him into the 3rd place spot. In the Muscle Car class Coby jumped from 3rd to 2nd with a 2nd place finish on the day. A victory would have moved him into a tie for first place but his car came up just short. In the car of the year race for the Muscle cars, Coby had a Nitty Gritty Kitty and a 67 Nova. We expected the Nitty Gritty Kitty to walk away with it but it lost twice in the double elimination race. Both losses were to the Nova and the Nova dominated everyone he raced and got the car of the year trophy. The FTE class, Coby was locked into the points championship two months ago. The big question was if he would bring home another car of the year. He had 3 silver Ferrari 458 Italia's and they were beating everyone. He had one that stood out from the other two and that car also took home the car of the year trophy.

I concentrated on the rookie class and I dominated all year. I had won the last 6 races going in and decided to do a R&D race this month to research some cars that we hadn't raced before. My streak ended but no one was close in the points and I easily won the championship by 44 points. The next question was if I would bring home the car of the year. It came down to a Ferrari 355 that I had and a black Turbolence. The Ferrari 355 lost to the Turbolence once in the double elimination race and then came back to win the final two races against the same Turbolence to take home the car of the year trophy for the Rookies.

Now that we have a huge target on our backs, time to prepare for 2012.
