Building a 54 Dodge Coronet gas coupe
krustymuppet Sunday, 3/6/2016
hello folks, I recently found this cool site and since I enjoy racing and collecting s-scale diecast cars I decided to give a try in building one of my favorite cars into something hopefully cool enough to belong here.

so after quite a bit of work, fitment, testing, distressing, my "barn find" coronet now rolls better than it ever did, stays on the track and is decently quick. the hotwheels gasser donor cars are nice and do the trick perfectly. taking a tame non-roller "nascar champions" plastic based pedestal car and making it raceable was fun. thanks!

welcome crusty... go gassers go...
Welcome to Redline Derby, Krusty...glad you found us and can't wait to see your cars roll. There's a lot of knowledge here and racing events happening every month. Check out the race calendar for upcoming tournaments.
thanks guys! lotsa really good info and tasty "trade secrets" on this here site, i'm definitely gonna keep on building and try to make some go-fast fun that hopefully look as good as they go.
cheers
That'll work, nice build!
The scuffs on the paint make it look better. Also you can find FTEs at diecast shows you might find.

Welcome Krusty!
It looks like you have the skills to fit right in here! THE Coronet looks great! Yeah, the challenge of taking a car that isn't really built for racing and making it quick is pretty cool!
The best wheels and axles for speed are the 2005-06 faster than ever (fte) wheels...throw them under that car and it would be even quicker.
If you are in to Muscle Cars, the Bare Muscle race is coming up in June and promises to be a big event. And the Where's the Fire race in May should be a good one too!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
