Cops-n-Robbers 3...Official thread - Starts This Weekend!
I just set the body on to check my wheel clearance...and I had to take a pic!

The tricky bit with this race is going to be, how much weight do I put in each car! Do I want a lightweight Robber car and a heavy Copper...do I split the difference...or do the Robbers have so much loot that it is weighing them down??? Hmmm
- nice "how To" take note racers... this guy knows what he's doing. — Traction-Event
- Thanks, TE! — 72_Chevy_C10
- Hot rod Lincoln... — Traction-Event
- Sweet! — 72_Chevy_C10
- I saw that and thought if I just robbed a bank that's what I need suicide doors! — Eastbound357
With the Robber shaping up, it's time to look at the Cop car...

I'm kinda liking the older cars...this is a Dodge Monaco. And this is it's wheel/axle donor...a Chrysler 300 (a Beetle fte has same wheels and width also)...
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w407/critterwerks/20151006_204342_zpshvzld61s.jpg
With a little fitting, I could just put the 300 chassis under the Cop car body, but I like the metal chassis...
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w407/critterwerks/20151006_205523_zpsaun0qcqd.jpg
I had to file the chassis a little bit to get the right end play on the wheels. But, it's practically a 'drop-in' wheel change...
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w407/critterwerks/20151006_210530_zpscvoucclg.jpg
Again, lots of JB Quick...I like axles to stay put...
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w407/critterwerks/20151006_210908_zpsxayogarl.jpg
And once the JB Quick starts to get a little tacky, I let the axles find parellel on the jig
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w407/critterwerks/20151006_211036_zps5mzz0rr9.jpg
But, always test roll your car before the JB Quick has totally set...it is your last chance to get it rolling straight. With a little clearance work in the rear wheel wells (cleaning up the casting, really), the body sits pretty well...

Now, to figure out the weight! :)
- Must be close to 45g as it sits...looking good — Traction-Event
- Yeah, metal on metal...kinda a brick! — 72_Chevy_C10
Hmmm, could this be another getaway care...

...could be
- I've never seen one minus the roof. you just gave me another custom idea. THANKS! — CrzyTrkrDude
With December being such a busy month for everyone, I've decided to push this race back a month, so more people can host...and it can be a big event! I'll probably open it up to two teams per person as well...since we'll have some extra time!
So, I'll run a Rip-n-Race in December...probably with all the cars going to Fast Fred for Christmas!
- Bummer, I thought this would close out the 2015. "Season" — Traction-Event
- I'd like to get more hosts for it...and it's hard in December — 72_Chevy_C10
- I'm hoping to toss something together. The extra month will help! — CrzyTrkrDude

Some axle tubes are needed, but the mock up is looking pretty cool! One prize car, coming up!
- I like it! I get an Andy Griffith show vibe from it. — KandORacing
- Barney should be so lucky! :) — 72_Chevy_C10
- I like how the wheels match the decal. ties it all together. — CrzyTrkrDude
- i had a buick patrol car... quick. — fordman
The extra time will be better for everyone. My robber was gonna "steal" the win while my cop was gonna "capture" the overall title.????
I really did your cop car. Did you make the decals and is that roof bulb a led diode?
Nice, clean work.
- Somehow the 4 question marks represent a smiley face. — iswingping
- I can take no credit for that, my ftiend...tgat is a Matchbox casting. — 72_Chevy_C10
- Though, decals are out there and a gumball light wouldn't be hard to make :) — 72_Chevy_C10

It is very tempting to customize one of these Lunati Bootleggers 55 Chevy by M2...but, I won't. That isn'r say that one might be a prize though!
If you haven't seen them, Lunati dI'd a series of ads for their new Bootlegger Cams featuring a Matt black 55 Chevy....
Maybe interested if I can get control of time and stuff. Still have the "Mayberry Prowler" laying around somewhere. This will be the 3rd time I have tried to get this Crusier out there.

- I think I have a robber here! — Eastbound357
- That's a pretty mean looking robber! — 72_Chevy_C10
- All she needs is some weight and new wheels/axles — Eastbound357
- I could see some FTE on there real easy! NICE! — CrzyTrkrDude
Here are the axle tubes...and wheels and axles...just sitting in the chassis, prior to gluing them in...Note:the little grooves I grind in the axle tubes, so the JB Weld can get in there and hold the axle in place
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w407/critterwerks/20151005_210304_zpsixuvie8x.jpg
I tend to use quite a bit of JB Quick Weld. I don't like the axles coming loose...
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w407/critterwerks/20151005_211039_zpse2cmyfrz.jpg
After the JB Quick sits for a minute or two...starts getting a little tacky...I put the car, upside-down on my alignment jig...
