Yet another Larry's Towing Chevy, awaiting some weight and fte's. I'll see if I can find some speed!

I like that the chrome is wearing away and that it was over brown plastic...looks like rust!

  • I wonder if it'll tow my Freightliner. I am broke down AGAIN. 2nd truck in 3 days — CrzyTrkrDude
  • throw some fte's on it and come get my broke down self BROTHER!! — CrzyTrkrDude

Does the truck have to tow the hot rod or is just a pickup truck for support vehicle acceptable? Would like to get in on this one just want to make sure I have a truck, I'm going to mod a '32 ford coupe so I have the no fender hot rod just need to know about the truck.

Hey Eastbound,

The truck can be a pickup, a tow truck, etc...it does not have to tow the vehicle! If you do a search for Crew Chief Challenge,  you can see the vehicles that raced last year. I'll try to find a link for you.

The 35 grams is tough for the Hot Rod...a 32 Ford is usually a little heavy, but if you put them on e diet, they can make it!

Good luck with the builds...I look forward to seeing them!

I actually just pulled a '32 Ford out of a blister earlier tonight...

But, with no windshield or seats...and a little grinding done to the inside...

I'm pretty close...a little more grinding will do it :)

Thanks C10, I'm going to send in two teams, wasn't there a rotten rollers with 50's cars I thought I saw that on here awhile back? That would be awesome too.

Also would the rip rod or Gatsby cars be considered '35 and older hot rods?

Hey Eastbound,

Rip Rod is the correct type of car, but I kinda like to keep the cars as identifiable as production cars...Rip Rod is kinda the Hot Wheels designers 'take' on a Hot Rod...but, I won't kick it out of the race, if that is what you build!

I'm not sure whet the Gatsby car is...have to see a pic.

I'm really thinking Model A's and T's

Thanks!

  • gatsby looks like a model A [A400] with a duval w/s, but as a 4 door not a 2... — fordman

Awesome I might just use that one I have to literally weigh my options.

  • Yeah, the 35 grams make it a little tricky! — 72_Chevy_C10

I'm sure you guys are already tired of seeing these, but, here are the prize cars, together...

The body is glued onto the Hot Rod and weighs just a little under 35 grams

if you cut and file "gatsby's" collapsed top off, try fitting a "pheaton's" plastic roof, it can be fine tuned to fit... just started one last night... no pix yet
