Hi Guys!

With the success of the Heavy Haulers race, I'd like to propose a similar series...Pick-Up trucks and Hot Rods teamed up. Both the trucks and the Hot Rods will race (trucks against trucks, Hot Rods against Hot Rods)...and it would be cool if the trucks could pull a car trailer with the Hot Rod on it!

With the holidays rapidly approaching, I think I will schedule this for after the 1st of the year...that should give you plenty of time to come up with cool race teams!

Here are the specs...

Trucks

50 gram limit

Any wheels

Drilled rivets

Fit on orange track

*not mandatory, but I think it would be cool if the truck pulled a trailer to put the Hot Rod on

Hot Rods

35 grams

Any wheels

Drilled rivets

Fit on orange track

The car should be a pre-1940 Hot Rod

Who's in?

... I have a very small family, not much xmas stuff goes on here... knowing most of you racers are too busy with family, work and team xmas parties...

maybe I can run a couple consecutive heets here in auburn / Lewiston to give us some racing during the holiday season... short track ?, long track ?, reverse incline ?

maybe start the series elsewhere I run the middle and a racer hosts the finals...  just spit balling

  • a one stop multiple race is great over the holidays with shipping and everything else. — Traction-Event

If you'd like to do that, that might work, Smitty. I'm planning on picking up a Drag Tracks set up, so I'd have two tracks here. I just didn't want to ship the vehicles all over during the holidays.

Let's see if this idea gains any steam...if so, we'll run them after the Wagon Wars ends. If not, we'll give it until after the 1st of the year.

Thanks for the offer, Smitty!

I'm thinking any one of these guys would look pretty good with some fte's, on a trailer behind a cool C-10 hauler! :)

Just sayin'

  • The 32' and Altered State....look fantastic — Traction-Event
  • That's what I'm thinking, TE! — 72_Chevy_C10
  • Bonesehaker is my favorite casting, but Altered State is pretty cool too — KandORacing
  • the early sooo fast had an opening deck lid / roof, newer releases don't — model40fan

Hmmmm, what I'm I up to today??

  • not sure about what your doing today, but last nite you ripped open some HW blisters... cool! — model40fan
  • They're no fun if they are in the blisters! :) — 72_Chevy_C10

Some Northern NJ Hot Rods, testing and tuning...rumor has it that there might some racing coming up...

  • the boys are back in town ! — model40fan
  • Roadster you say.....I might have a few — Traction-Event
  • I thought you might, TE! Hot Rods and Pick-Ups...fun stuff! — 72_Chevy_C10

That 32 has to be close to the limit...my stockers here are 37g...but I have something different in mind...a casting I have some experience with, but have never raced this version. Took a few hints and ideas from Smitty... Still need to sort out a few details to get it under the weight limit.

  • Yeah, the 32 is over right now...I might have to cast that body in resin to get it under 35 — 72_Chevy_C10
  • please narrow the 3 window before you cast it...it is not correct, too fat — model40fan
  • How much does the '32 need to be narrowed, Smitty? 1/16"? — 72_Chevy_C10
  • seems like 1/16" is too much.. hacksaw blade width and filing ought to do it — model40fan
  • wish i knew i mailed a package to you thia PM. ...would have tossed a couple bodies in... — model40fan
  • i left the cowl alone, split the body from thye roof back, tapering the slot wider towards the rear... — model40fan
  • okay, I'll do a little chopping ...and bring it in a little — 72_Chevy_C10
  • th as nks for the package, Smitty...I'll keep an eye out for it! — 72_Chevy_C10

A little inspiration...

I have one of these trailers coming, if anyone would like a casting?

Chris

ok, I'm inspired....this 33 Ford started at 38g...and with some hacking and dremmel work this is sitting at 31g...4g to put where I need... as for bumpers...what is life without risk?

Now to find a suitable pick up...I have a plan for the trailer...

Pay no attention to the wagon in the background .... It's probably slow anyways....

Depending on when the first race would actually kick off determines if I can play with you guys.  From Thanksgiving on it's a madhouse between the grandkids coming, us going away for a family weekend, and my son coming home from school I won't have the time to put anything together.

  • I hear that, that's why I'm trying to get everything built for the rest of the season — Traction-Event
  • You build 'm and Smitty and I will race 'em. Let's go racin'! — 72_Chevy_C10

1940 and older or older than 1940?

  • I 'm thinking pre-40, Stalker...open wheel, old school hot rods and a pick up truck to get them to the track (and race too!) — 72_Chevy_C10

Since this idea is picking up a little steam, I'll open it up to a limit of two trucks and two cars (come on, the hot rods are fun to build!) per person. But, you have to have teams, no sending in just two trucks or two cars....either one of each or two of each!

Let's go racin!

hmmmm. TE is going the '34 ford route... wellllll.... so be it !

'34 ford 3 window coupe body, door window openings squared off at the upper rear, hole drilled through the roof quarter, filed to the shape of the 5 window's quarter windows... on a stock base with the side pipes / supports and rear bumper removed... 2 of the 16 carbs from Krazy 8s, block and headers from Rodzilla, lites and grill from '34 coupe...FTEs... weighs in at a poultry 34.7 grams...

ooppps, that's before glueing... i snipped the body to base pins off to buy a little weight room for the glue...   had to strip the paint off to make weight... rear window and seat had to go too...

  • Sweet looking, Smitty! Is it under 35 grams? — 72_Chevy_C10
  • barely ! — model40fan
  • Smitty, you are making me a better builder...had to go back and trim my chassis to match the body...yours is sooo clean — Traction-Event
