Custom Car Show

Stroller Friday, 1/9/2015

I was wondering if anyone would like to enter a "Show Only" tournament.  This would not be a race but a contest for the best looking car.

Different Categories for:

Vintage- Cars between 1919 and 1930

Antique - Cars between 1931 and 1975

  • Classic - Cars between 1976 and 1995
  • Modern American -American made 1996 to Present
  • Modern Import -  Foreign Made 1996 to Present
  • Custom - Anything goes here.
  •
  • Muscle & Hot Rod -  You know what goes here. No Exotics allowed.
  • Best Exotic - These are for Ferarris, Lambos, McClarens and such.  No Muscle or Hot Rod allowed here.
  • Most Unique - Something different.
  • Best Pre-War - Before 1941
  • People's Choice (Any Category) - Voted on by the entrants.
  • I will be the judge on all but the Peoples Choice.

Cars will be judged on paint, details, workmanship, bonus points for added details such as working components like opening doors, working lights and so on.

Please say what category or categories your entry will be competing in.

Please submit only one car per category.  Although one car might be entered in more than one category if applicable.

Prizes for the winners of each category and for the Over all winner.

Needless to say I am not entering this contest.

This is a drilled rivet contest.

All entries must be 1/64th "HW" scale.   No weight limit.

$ 2.00 fee on each car you want returned.

Any thoughts or ideas as usual are appreciated.  Certificates for wins in each class will be sent.

Any prize cars sent will be appreciated.

Not a bad idea, but a couple questions:

1--unless they're also raced, why necessitate drilled rivets?  I can see, of course, how it adds to the workmanship aspect, I guess to see how neatly it can be done; but it should be optional, that a person CAN put better-looking wheels on a car if they want, but don't have to (which could even be an additional factor in judging--if someone doesn't do the work to change the wheels, then unless the wheels look really nice on their own, maybe they get points off).  I know I've got a beautiful custom Dodge Ram (actually "Dodge T-Rex"), but I don't entirely remember if the rivets are drilled (it was a Christmas present).  Yes, it is quite customized.

2--why not have everyone post pictures on here, and let everyone vote on all the classes?  You know, just have them write a little comment under their favorite car.  Do one class at a time, nobody can vote for themselves; each person has to post a few pictures of each car, so that the voters can get a good idea of what they're looking at.  It would save money on shipping.

Anyway, my vote for an additional class would be either off-road vehicles, or old die-casts (meaning things like Redlines and Superfasts, not Model Ts).  Hope this idea gets some momentum!

Well FOTF I am going to hold with the drilled rivet rule.  Your idea of posting pictures on here is probably not a bad idea.  Thanks.

What does everyone think of just posting pictures of your car on here.  You need a glamour shot.  Prettiest you can.  An underbelly shot to show workmanship and drilled rivets.,  and as many shots as you like showing the best features of your car.  Oh by the way I keep saying car but that includes trucks as well.  If you like maybe a cool name for your car.  .............Stroller
