Desktop length, space for 1/4 track

RobertBcfc Tuesday, 10/1/2024

Hi,

Silly question time - I know a 1/4 mile at 1:64 scale is roughy 23 feet in track length.

But in real terms, given an average level of elevation for the ramp, roughly how much desk space do you need end to end?

geometry and me were never a happy couple!

20 feet 7.5 inches, you need a runout area so I’m gonna say 4 six foot desks. Nothing wrong with an 18 or16 foot track. Good luck.

I'd agree with the 24' for space given what you need for setup and runoff. Although the runoff for my own track was only about 1-foot...it was short but not awful if you're hurting for space, cars will be fine.

Thank you all for your comments, and the calculator is fantastic, really appreciated.

I'm thinking of running a few tracks side by side (space is the constraining factor) so the next thing I need to give some thought to is width.

But that's likely something for a future post.

Thanks again all, hope your days are good ones.
