Downhill Diecast Drags
Saturday, February 22nd, 2020 View race results
This event is part of the Triplemania Weekend which also includes the Ohio Diecast Challenge, Battle of the Builders, and Downhill Diecast Drags Championship. If you're entering this race, check out the other races too because a single car may qualify for several events. And if you're entering multiple cars in multiple events, just send them all at once.
The Downhill Diecast Drags Championship is an all-day live race event being organized by the Autobody Specialists repair shop in Columbus, Ohio. The event will include a kid's rip-n-roll, free food & drink, real race cars for photo ops, and a local business battle race.
The main event of the day is the Downhill Diecast Drags Championship races for both modified and stock classes. Both classes will be capped at 128 entries, all of which will race to fill a 64-car championship bracket for each class.

Prizes
Complete list of prizes/trophies is TBD.
Winner from each class will receive a Redline Derby Racing t-shirt in addition to any other prizes and trophies. Prizes available to US Residents only.
Track
This is a stock Drag Track system setup running 21-feet, owned and operated by the Autobody Specialists shop team. Both cars will be released at the same time. The timing tree is not being used, nor are times recorded for this race.
Race format and scoring (all classes)
Redline Derby Racing is not organizing nor running this event. The race format is firm right now but is subject to change based on conditions that arise during the event. This is a live race event so things will happen. We'll all do our best to keep things fair and fun.
Each class of 128 cars will go through double-to-win qualifying races to fill a 64-car bracket.
Each vehicle will be staged and released at least twice in succession on parallel dual-lane tracks with each vehicle staying in its designated lane for all qualifying runs. The first vehicle to win 2 races on its respective track will have qualified for the 64-vehicle bracketed final rounds.
The vehicles winning 2 qualifing races will be placed on the bracket grid based on the race number of the race that they won.
The single elimination bracket(s) will continue until the Top 2 are determined. The pair of vehicles not moving into the Top 2 will race again with the winner earning 3rd Place Overall. The Top 2 will then run a double-elimination (best of 3) final to determine 1st/2nd positions. Trophies awarded for the top 3 finishers.
Penalties/DNF
Cars are given a grace of 1g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.
If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not race.
Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the tournament. Cars that break during the tournament will not be repaired or replaced.
A full day of racing and fun
The Downhill Diecast Drags event is an all-day race event starting at 9am ET on 2/22 when the track opens for prep and testing. The day continues with a kid's rip-n-roll race, free food & drink, photo ops with real race cars, a local community business tournament and the big bracket events.
Get details on the day's events including schedule of activities, hours, admission, and parking.
Redline Derby Racing will be there all day to help support operations as needed, as well as chatting with everyone to talk about our hobby.
If you're in Central Ohio (or close to it), I hope you can stop by and hang out for a while to see diecast racing action in person. It's a different beast than our typical mail-in stuff...having an audience and seeing the excitement live makes a big difference.

Just a quick update that we've decided that Zoom-In casting mods are not allowed. If you care to enter a Zoom-In as a stock entry, that is fine.
Sorry for any inconvenience or if you had already started a Zoom-In mod. Thanks for your understanding.
Getting things together for the Downhill Diecast Drags which is less than two months out. Here's a shot of the pre-paint preparation being completed by my wife Julie. She's busy shaping, sanding and cleaning some the custom trophies that will be awarded to the top 3 in both the stock and modified classes.
Another quick update on the trophy preparation. Here is the full line-up of the Corvette, GTO, and Mustang "bodies-in-white" which have been fired and are ready to head off to the paint shop for primer and base colors. Following that are graphics and air-brushed highlights, then a high quality clear coat to make the paints pop. Each one will sit on an acrylic base. The custom painted Ferrari Red horses are special pieces just for the Friday night Redline Derby events. We're planning something really special with those.
Sweet work...looking forward to the Racing action
More work completed on the class trophies. Base colors applied.
CAN I SEND 1 MOD FOR ALL 3 EVENTS.
Yes you can, read through this post to get the details
Question?
Is Stock = Original car with No Mods like Wheel Sanding or Any type of Changing or altering the Car in anyway. We are to only use Dry Graphite if we want......
Choices choices.. just about time to start hard core testing and tuning for the Triplemania weekend in about one month. Thankful for the tips provided by many on this site.
