Drag Races At Work

Long story short, our shop hosts a monthly free event that entertains 30 - 50 poeple for 2+ hours. This month nearly every band cancelled leaving us wondering how to entertain a bunch of random adults for a handful of hours. Well, it just so happens that the shop has been dabbling in diecast racing and a new timing system from Slanman Customs happend to be delivered the day before said show. Since ordering the DTS-2 I've been collecting and not opening cars which means not only do we have a ramp and timer but a large amount of new cars to race. We did have two solo musicians that played while some watched and some raced. I gotta show my love to everyone who's taken time to share their diecast racing knowledge as it has been how our shop has found a new hobby and now were pondering a local league / club.  THANKS!! Please enjoy a few pics of the aftermath.

And for whatever reason these five cars were never opened. Someone even opened and raced the coup clip.

Fantastic, that’s a great story. Hot Wheels and beer.

That's cool. What a great way to spend some time.

  • Thanks, it was a great night and so much of it came directly from checking out this site. — s_p_kranzor

Hotwheels AND a bike shop!   My wife and I love putting in some miles on our road bikes on the weekends.

  • Yeah, bikes are great and running a shop is.... interesting. Keep putting in those miles! — s_p_kranzor

  • Its a two man operation and much like diecast racing its been a wild ride. We have an annual New Years Parts and we're breaking out the track again. We just need to come up with a name and paint a few cars. — s_p_kranzor

Awesome! That's how it starts, man...simple setup, some friends, and some cars. Love the couch + games too. Wish I could find some old small screen CRTs like you got there.

  • I'm really hoping to get some local interest and start some kind of league. Probably more of a fantasy, but you never know unless you try. The couch area acted as a great pit lane. CRTs are still around, keep an eye out and you will find one. — s_p_kranzor
  • pm me, I have some ideas, does anyone play gaslands? — dr_dodge
