Easy points, redeem codes

Some of you have already taken advantage of the new promo codes added to the Fantasy League this year, but too all others this is a friendly reminder that I'm spitting out codes on Facebook, Twitter and various other places around the site, forums and league.

The codes may not be worth much but if you check out the rankings you'll see that a few people already have up to 30 points before the season even starts! And if you're a complete-ist you'll add more license plates to your collection.

Codes will be going out all season so there's no real hurry but keep an eye out for some quick and easy points.

So how do you redeem a code once you find one?
Do I just 'like' the posted promo code?

Guess I'll have to suffer since I don't twitty or faceybook...

Forgot to mention, got some interest in the fantasy league last night...what would be my friend code for inviting someone to join?

@JDC - To redeem a code just click the "Redeem Code" option from your dashboard menu, or there is also an entry field at the bottom of the Fantasy League home page. Just type in the code and get your points...assuming the code wasn't already redeemed by someone else or expired.

@Jobe - Actually, to capitalize most on referring people to the League is to give out your "Invite a Friend" code found on the dashboard menu as well. Your friend code is tied to your player account and is valid forever, and every time someone joins the league using that code you'll get bonus points. You unlock a trophy for the first one but also get points for each additional friend sign-up after that. The friend code gets you both points where as promo codes are a one-way street.

However, I will setup a promo code for Austin Drags and you can put it on your site for players to use and get more points after they've signed up. One goal of the sponsor promo codes is to get people to go from Redline to your site and then back. I'll have to make a license plate trophy for it too, so I'll try to get on that this weekend.

Oh, and Jobe, the nice thing about Twitter is you don't have to sign-up yourself to see updates. You can just go to http://twitter.com/redlinederby and see all the updates I post, including promo codes. Facebook is a different story and I commend you for being able to not have one! (Although Facebook is valuable marketing tool)

Well Brian, I've come to caving in and joining the FB a few times...exactly for the reason you post...marketing. And it might still happen but for now I'll just be part of the uninformed!

Thanks for the work on the fantasy league, I'll see what I can do about getting some more competition!

Just tried to redeem a facebook code that I don't believe anyone else has redeemed (didn't see any new achievement plates). It was 20 hours old. Perhaps it expired?

Yes, codes can expire. So far I've been making codes pretty much same-day codes. But they're not all that way and not all of them are first-come either. Just depends.

Once you redeem a Facebook or Twitter code, you can't redeem anymore, right? So, one each is your max?

Yes, codes that unlock an achievement are only good once since you can't have a trophy more than once in your list. However, not all codes are associated with a trophy, some just add straight points to your score...so you never know.

I didn't poke around to get clarification on my own
so if you don't mind the question...

The license plates, are each of them going to be able
to be achieved by everybody or are there some that
will only be available to one person?

I'm just curious from a game perspective because
I don't think that you want something that nobody
could achieve (all of the awards).

Should that perhaps be limited in the number of points for referrals? I understand getting as many people as possible, but I could see that possibly determing the year end championship. How many people did you refer instead of how you did with your picks.

The first time you invite a friend you get 25 points, but after that it's just 10. Yet I can see Iowa's point that if the points are real close at the end of the season a last minute friend invite shouldn't make a champion. Perhaps the friend invite for points should be inactive the last couple weeks of the season.
