Establishing a Mail-In Tradition

Mcjiggles9 Monday, 2/3/2014

So I had a thought this week that I just needed to share with everyone.

First of all, Hey!, its been a while... I probably wont be able to respond to this thread for some time, but I want to at least get it our here for you all to discuss and start.

The year 2013 was a great year for Mail-In events, we had some great series´and some great racing.

With the new website thats going to be launched here, I think we are going to see tremendous growth in the Cumminty, especially with the fusion of the Fantasy League with the Forum. Before this all gets going, I think it would be good to start a Mail-In event Tradition.

The 2013 Mail-In Series Champioship!

What would you all think of holding a once a year tournament where all the winners from that year got together and went at it for all the glory. I think it would be an EXTREMELY exciting event, with close racing action, and we wouldnt have to go through the same car, or few cars in a series winning from host to host.

Of course one may say that the restrictions from series to series werent the same, therefore a car from one event will have advantage (specifically refering to weight), but as we know. Weight doesnt always win. Also this event isnt about that. Its about GREAT racing!

We will also have to use some wisdom, cleary I dont think we should enter the winner from the Beater Burnout series...

And also some people will have much more representives for this event...Carl or JDC, but again its not about that. Its about great racing!

Lastly, I would never want to exclude anyone from a mail-in event so just to stir the pot a bit more, anyone who didnt have a winner this year is allowed to enter one car. They SHOULD know however that this event is going to TOP NOTCH racing, and that they should try hard to send in a fast car!

These are just my thoughts, but i would love to hear from everyone about suggestions, comments, concerns and all that jazz.

Discussion

IROC race of champions... interesting idea, but who decides what cars make the cut? Some of us did not win a series overall. I did find myself lucky enough to win a heat or two.

If this happens, I recomend a 5 car maximum per entrant, and a single venue like Factory wars/RLD series

You enter a winning car if you got one? Sorry to be so dense.....

I think a Clash a Champions is a good theme for any tournament, but I would say that the entries should be limited. I think that's okay. If you won a tournament this year, you're in. If not, try harder next time. The winners worked hard to build their cars so that's part of the reward...and motivation for the others.

If you're really into the "there are no losers" thing then maybe have a secondary tournament for non-winners and the winner of that gets some special title/prize for winning - like First Blood award or something. I dunno. But I think having non-winners weakens the point of the tournament. You don't have losers in the Super Bowl.

And then for the Clash I'd say skies the limit. No restrictions. The entries bring their best and race for the title and prizes. I'd throw in prizes and swag to make it an "official" RLD race.

442 MADE A TOP 5 FINISHERS CHART BUT I CAN'T FIND IT... IT SHOULD SHOW WHO DID AND WHO DIDN'T WIN...

Do you have to win a tournament each season in order to race in this or do you have to have won any season in the past ?.Stroller I'm sure some seasons only 2 or 3 people will actually win. Makes for a very limited race. Does winning a segment of a tournament qualify you? Such as winning Old school Fords Fords Fords in Spokane?............

IMO... maybe the "Finals Series" ...
brackets filled with all cars that finished first or second in a series... where we only have so many teams that have won maybe some salutatorians might just fill the bill !...
maybe take only enough second place cars to get an even bracket, [16 or 32] the second place finishing racers should be racers not already in with a series win... .

The IROC series ran all the same cars...just an idea, but instead of the driving skills being the deciding factor it would be the modifying skills that would decide......
