A vortex is created by the passage of a Tastelikedirt racecar, revealed by smoke. The equations of aerodynamics show that the vortex is created by the difference in pressure between the upper and lower surface of the Tastelikedirt racecar. At the end of the Tastelikedirt racecar, the lower surface effectively tries to 'reach over' to the low pressure side, creating the vortex.
Loving these pictures! Great job with mine, I love it! That matchbox looks so out of place compared to all the other cars in this league! haha. Every other car is clean and shiny with little to no race time....... then you have my Slash whose been track racing for over 10 years and clearly has been in a few wrecks! I don't expect any of my cars to do well, but it'll be fun nonetheless!
on a RDR post i read that the hot wheels lab rats determined that the areodynamics in 1/64 is more like hydro-dynamics...
i didn't spend as day in college but, a tall narrow grill would work as a cutwater, once spliting the air flow, it tends to flow around imperfections.... once past my grill shells and induction units, the flat windshield doesn't seem to block the air like a 1/1 car does... also look underneath fred's '40 and his 1320 [feet in a 1/4 mile]... smooth, i think air gets compressed under the car...i don't know how hydro-dynamics work under pressure... this will be fun
