Fuming, spraying indoors

Or more correctly, dealing with fumes in one way or the other. So even at summertime when the garage doors are potentially open if I'm painting and the wife is trying to do some work out here as well that's the fumes are still gonna be an issue. And of course it's worse during the winter when the doors are closed. I do have a very basic paint booth with an exhaust fan dry air out. Even as I posted this message, I realize that for not much I could add a additional exhaust fan, which I will do.
One thing that has come to mind is wondering if primarily using an airbrush would be a way to reduce overall fumes as compared to a rattle can. My mind tells me this has to be the case because the spray with is much more confined than on a rattle can blasting away. So I would ask that as a question is it a much lower fume and you know a smell issue as compared to a rattle can.
Second question I have is the extra work in using one rattle. Can you just pick it up spray you want it done you chuck it. If I want to change colors, I just pick up a different can and go at it so the question here is if I had an airbrush and I was painting a metallic blue and then I wanted to do some work with metallic purple. What would the process be. I would assume I have to pull the paint bowl out and put on one that's got some thinner or some kind and do a few blasts to clear the nozzle. And then I guess attached the other color.
thanks for any suggestions?

The Wagon was painted White first, Green second and Red third.
I feel your pain...literally, as I have a hypersensitivity to paint can fumes, along with certain perfumes, candles etc., and it will keep me out of races that require custom paint jobs. Dare I say I might need to sign a waiver to enter some races. Wife says I sound like a cat trying to hack up a furball when it hits.
has anyone tried powder coating?
that would be low/no fumes
cook it in an old toaster oven

Airbrush acrylics
I bought a cheap airbrush off of Amazon The bigger the nozzle the better. I started with a .5 mm and have now moved to 8 mm. I Use thinned out artist acrylics from hobby lobby. I really like the Masters touch line And it's often on sale every two weeks for 40% off.
Acrylics produce minimal fumes, I use a 20-in box fan with A 20-in household air filter taped to the front of it as spray booth to catch the overspray. I have this set up in my garage but because there's no fumes I usually bring them in to the house so they dry a bit quicker in the warmer air in the winter.
My favorite clear coat is quick shine multi surface floor finish. You essentially can't mess it up. I spray it on but you could dip your car and dab the excess too. It is very self-leveling., once dry it is waterproof. But if you use isopropyl alcohol to distribute your graphite it will make the finish sticky until the alcohol evaporates and it dries again.

The Barbatos Rex youtube is not available now, but he had a vent method for your booth using a 5 gallon bucket with water in it. Others have videos showing similar setups.
If the fan you have isn't powerful enough, there are higher flow models for about $75.
I've been working on a DIY booth for spraying. Outside isn't always a good spot for debris free painting.
- I’ve actually got something like that going right now which I sort of slammed together. I need to go back and look at exactly what I did —- it sort of works. — AbbyNormal

- I hope his channel can be recovered. Was odd getting some bitcoin video showing up. Clicked some link that let it be hacked. — Object52
When I was and had a Paint Brush, I used Tamaya Paints. Cut down the paint with Alcohol 1/4 to 1 paint, smell is not as bad and you clean up with Osoporal Alcohol Easy. I used to use a box out the window and a small fan to draw out smell, you can get a furnace filter and put it in front of the fan and that will pick up Paint paritcules being drawn through the fan and outside.
I use Rattle cans now ( Tamaya ) paint lightest color first, Tape what you want with Painters tape. I use Frog tape, works Great! second color goes down after car sits and first paint is cured. I truy for 24 hours the tape second color and wait. Tape and third then let sit is the hard part and let the paint settle down and get hard. the peel Tape off to expose your Creation!
