GASSER WARS Race 3 (Leg 1 of the Texas 2-step!)
While awaiting the Gassers arrival I've been working on the bracket. When matching up the cars by points (ex: 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, 3 vs 14, etc.) there are three teams racing each other first round! Is this going to be a problem with a double elimination format?

two losses and you are on the trailer, so [ I.M.O. ] i think we all would be cool with dropping or raising a place to keep the teams from handing themselves a loss...example ; [ instead of 5 vs.12 maybe 5 vs 13 ] in the end you're the host...

But it is nice to not race against the exact same cars everytime.
I think the 1 vs. 16 seeding will perpetuate that. The very fastest car is gonna beat the very slowest car almost every time, and they'll end up matched against each other again the next race. Giving the fastest car "easy" points each race.
Maybe that's what you get when you build a fast car...maybe that's what you get when you build a slow car.
The only problem is the fringe fast cars may never catch up because the fastest cars are getting easy points each race.
Don't know what the solution is.

I do. Random brackets.
Random brackets where no teams race themselves in the first round?
Or totally random brackets? That might help (slower cars) if say, Smitty were to race himself in the first round, some of the second tier cars might have a better chance.
Well, there's the solution. The Sloppy Jallopies race themselves in the first round every race from here on out.
Random without facing your own team in round 1. It shouldn't matter what the brackets look like because the fastest car will always win. Besides that, there is a losers bracket so even if you get an unlucky first or second round, you could plow through the losers bracket and still end up doing well.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm going with the "random pick no teams race each other first round" approach. I went to http://random.org and paired random numbers with car numbers. After four attempts I finally had a bracket where teams didn't race each other in the first round!

I don't think it's a problem. I suppose the question is, Do people not want cars racing against their own teams in the first round? Or, Do people want the seeding 1vs. 16, 2 vs. 15 ect,..
Doesn't matter much to me.
