While awaiting the Gassers arrival I've been working on the bracket. When matching up the cars by points (ex: 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, 3 vs 14, etc.) there are three teams racing each other first round! Is this going to be a problem with a double elimination format?

I don't think it's a problem. I suppose the question is, Do people not want cars racing against their own teams in the first round? Or, Do people want the seeding 1vs. 16, 2 vs. 15 ect,..

Doesn't matter much to me.

two losses and you are on the trailer, so [ I.M.O. ] i think we all would be cool with dropping or raising a place to keep the teams from handing themselves a loss...example ; [ instead of 5 vs.12 maybe 5 vs 13 ] in the end you're the host...
it's up to you... ....................glad to finally race HALF FAST !

I think as long as you're not racing against yourself in the first round, it's all good.

Even if you raced the same bracket as Jim, the outcome is more than likely to be different as the tracks are different.
But it is nice to not race against the exact same cars everytime.

But it is nice to not race against the exact same cars everytime.

I think the 1 vs. 16 seeding will perpetuate that. The very fastest car is gonna beat the very slowest car almost every time, and they'll end up matched against each other again the next race. Giving the fastest car "easy" points each race.

Maybe that's what you get when you build a fast car...maybe that's what you get when you build a slow car.

The only problem is the fringe fast cars may never catch up because the fastest cars are getting easy points each race.

Don't know what the solution is.

I do. Random brackets.

Random brackets where no teams race themselves in the first round?

Or totally random brackets? That might help (slower cars) if say, Smitty were to race himself in the first round, some of the second tier cars might have a better chance.

Well, there's the solution. The Sloppy Jallopies race themselves in the first round every race from here on out.

Random without facing your own team in round 1. It shouldn't matter what the brackets look like because the fastest car will always win. Besides that, there is a losers bracket so even if you get an unlucky first or second round, you could plow through the losers bracket and still end up doing well.

Random without facing your own team in round 1.

Yes, I second that.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going with the "random pick no teams race each other first round" approach. I went to http://random.org and paired random numbers with car numbers. After four attempts I finally had a bracket where teams didn't race each other in the first round!

The Gassers are here,
the Gassers are here!

carl's got the cars, he's got the brackets set, COUPLE O DAYS AND THE LEG #3 OF THE GASSER WARS WILL COMMENCE
thanks 442 !

That's the ticket!!

I do like the random bracket idea. Anyway so my slow 442 can have a chance at a win

looked at carl's brackets... if the previous winners claw through the opening round... they face each other in rd. #2....
......... i'm seeing "DEMONS"...in my sleep !

Saturday, Saturday, Saturday!
Gasser Wars Race 3 will be run Saturday at 6pm Central Time.
The plan is to update the bracket in real time as the cars are raced.
Sorta' like having the race live on the internet but without pics or video!

So if you're not busy Saturday night you can follow along. Just open the bracket, grab some popcorn, sit back and enjoy the races! You don't even have to hit the refresh button, when we type it in you'll see the changes right then.

I will let you know when it's up! Johnny Lightning Beats Them All!

. . . Johnny Lightning Beats Them All!

So you're saying that there will be some Johnny Lightning cars entered in our next series?

sorry carl... but the johnnies are way too delicate to altered race... if they were a little tougher maybe we would see some show up for the mail ins...

Team HalfFastRaceway is done with the GASSER WARS! One hour and five minutes of fun
Martha and I had a great time racing them. Results are posted on the bracket (link above). The points will be updated after supper.

WOW, great racing again... dang demon...that was a lot of real close racing climbing up through the loser's bracket... thanks martha, smooth results,
oh and carl did ok too ! next stop hollywood, well [ youtube video, LINCOLN, RI. ]

WOW that is pretty cool to see the 3 window and the Dodge Demon going head to head in the first three races! Now we will see how they will do when they make the trip NORTH to Lincoln, Rhode Island to race on the Lincoln Johnny Lightning Race Clubs track. This track has seen many records with one being a 2.217 record this year run by a Hot Wheels Redline Short Order. We have a pretty fast track so it will be interesting to see who has the fastest time next Sunday and we have a few members that will be writing the times down in their log books. Just a few things about our racing we run as many as 400 plus cars per month down our track but we dont ever ge to see GASSERS like this so we are looking foward to this special race. We will also post on here and our facebook page who ever runs the fastest time and whoever does will receive a special prize from the Lincoln Johnny Lightning Race Club. Good luck to all of you GASSER RACERS!!!

Remember Johnny Lightning Beats Them All!

the johnnies would have to actually enter an "altered" race for them to beat anyone...
so far all we see is them "trembling in fear on the coffee table"... WE ARE WAITING !

Hey guys visit our website and click on the results toolbar we already got started for the Gasser Wars race. www.ljlrc.com

I've got to say that the car that impressed me the most in the HalfFast Round of GASSER WARS was Daniel's Roadrunner! Although it lost it's first two races it held it's own against some stiff competition. It never lost by more that a half-car length against the Nova and the Woodie. With a little better luck in bracket placing this car could be in the points next race.

go delta 6 go

Team Half Fast could you mail me a copy of your ladder sheets from this last race with the box of cars. Thanks Jeremy!

Thanks Bryan! Your Olds is better than mine though -the Vista Cruiser has taken out the 442 several times

hey bryan, I.M.O. if we had one, that vista cruiser would be our "gasser war" show winner !... runner up...#22

I agree!
Bryan, either you forgot to shove some weight into the Corvette or it fell out! It's the lightest of the bunch.

The GASSERS are now headed to Lincoln (should arrive Wednesday). This was my first time to host a race and I was pleasantly surprised that the box of cars shipped Priority with Delivery Confirmation for only $12.55!

Not only is it a blast hosting a race, it's economical too.
If you haven't done so yet, consider hosting a race soon.

No weight, the vette was a previous build since my new builds didn't work out.

Hosting a race is what it's all about...especially if you can have some others join in with you.

Looking forward to my turn in 2 weeks.
