Gauging Interest

I'm in the planning stages for a new series and would like to know how many would interested.

It would be called Team Bash.
There will teams of 5 drivers, randomly created from all entries.

These teams would compete head to head to try and climb to the top of the list.

Each team vs team race would go like this.  (for this example I'll use the names Team Red and Team Blue).

Team Red (#4 on the list) is challenging Team Blue (#3 on the list) to try and take their spot. Team Captain from the challenging team gets to create the pairings.  Each of his 5 drivers will race one on one with a driver from the other (as chosen by the challenging Captain).    That means 5 races total. The team with the Best of 5 individal wins is the winning team.  If Team Blue wins they keep the #3 spot. If Team Red wins, they move up to #3 and Team Blue falls to #4.

The idea is to see who can get to number 1 and stay there.

A little hard to explain in only a few words,  but the team matchups are automatic. Week 1 is #1 vs #2,  #3 vs #4,  #5 vs #6 etc.    Week 2 would be a Bye for #1,  #2 vs #3,  #4 vs #5 etc.  This is kind of a back and forth that allows winning teams to keep moving up while forcing losing teams have to defend before getting another chance to move up. Prevents a losing team from spot blocking.
I would probably also incorporate a points system where individual drivers could accumulate point for their wins and have some kind of awards at the end.

Of course,  this will be a No Time event.  This will add a bit of a challenge to Captains as they pick the individual pairings.  It would be too easy if everyone knew exactly how everyones car is.

Let the comments fly!
Thanks,     -Z

I would opt to have a little more chance and randomness when a team challenges another team. From your example above when the red team challenged the blue team, the driver order would be pulled from buckets. That would create five random pairs to face off and race. However, the challenging team captain has the option to make one change to the lineup.

otherwise sounds kind of interesting.

I love the idea and sign me up already!

I know this is still. Conceptual but why not get ahead of the game.

I like AbbyNormal's randomness idea but allowing the challenged team some leverage for being the higher rank.
