What music video in the 60s featured hot wheels footage? Well my radar tells me it was the Steve Miller Band -- Living in the USA.
1968 - computers were still science fiction, lasers were in the news. The space race was in full swing with the US ready to land on the moon. Vietnam was in complete mayhem with young men being drafted and the Tet offensive only months away and every newscast featured body counts. All that in a lot more was going on. It was a wild time just stir in some rock 'n' roll and that was my world. at the age of 13 in 1968. I had 1 foot still in my childhood and 1 foot looking forward into a crazy world.

I was 10.
had HW, a bike i'd ride 3 miles into town,
and buy balsa wood, HO slot car parts, plastic models, and odd rod stickers
also was an alter boy, and would make that ride on sat morning @6AM to serve funerals
totally worth it, made a buck or 2,
3 fresh local donuts (risen), and chocolate milk for $0.50
then the ben franklin store, and the hobby store
(always needed estes rocket engines and fuse, too)
hoof it on home, be back before lunch

Those fuses still do not work 100%. With todays technology one would think they would have something better...
In the early 70s we used to hitch hike as town was 5 miles for us... No bikes to ride unless we borrowed them... It was safe to ride in the back of pick up trucks and seat belts were an option.
We paid 25 ceant for a gal of gas to ride a friends Honda 50 mini bike and we lived next to a drive in theater where we watched movies for free with an am/fm radio..
Hotwheels were not so much in my house all the time and the ones I had I stashed from 3 brothers..
